THE RACE

Run for the Light is a scenic run near coastal dunes and through the maritime forest on Bald Head Island, NC.

Enjoy the sweeping views while running at dusk toward the light of The Old Baldy Lighthouse.

Make your participation in this race an entire day trip your whole family can enjoy by taking part in an afternoon festival celebrating National Lighthouse Day featuring crafts, music, food, beer and more! The festival will be taking place on the lighthouse grounds, the start and finishing site for The Run for the Light.

This event is perfect to showcase one of North Carolina’s most beautiful beaches and historic sites– it will be one to mark off your bucket list!

All proceeds from The Run for Light go towards the mission of The Old Baldy Foundation.

RACE SWAG

 

SHIRT: 

Participants who register by July 1, 2023 are guaranteed a race shirt.  All other participants can choose from remaining shirts and sizes while supplies last.

FINISHER MEDAL: 

All 5K and 10K participants who cross the Run for the Light finish line receive a finisher medal for their accomplishment.

The Run for the Light course is a scenic run near coastal dunes and through the maritime forest on Bald Head Island, NC. The whole course features an all-asphalt surface, with splits and water at the 1-, 3- and 5-mile marks. This event is perfect to showcase some of North Carolina’s most beautiful beaches and beach cities – it will be one to mark off your bucket list!

This race course is also stroller friendly!
However, dogs are not allowed on this course so please leave them at home or with a non-running spectator.

THE CAUSE

The Run for the Light is a fundraiser for The Old Baldy Foundation, a 501(c) 3 not for profit organization. The mission of the Old Baldy Foundation is the historic preservation and maintenance of the Old Baldy Lighthouse, North Carolina’s oldest standing lighthouse, and historical education and outreach of the rich maritime history of the Cape Fear Region. The lighthouse was in a state of disrepair when this organization formed in the 1980s. With our foundations’ stewardship, the lighthouse stands well maintained at over 200 years old and has become a beloved cultural treasure for the Cape Fear Region and state.
