The Madison 5K Virtual Run/Walk VIRTUAL

The 18th Annual Madison 5K Run/Walk to raise funds for the Madison Education Foundation is going virtual for the entire month of May.  Community members are invited to register online for a 1-mile or 5K run/walk and complete their chosen route in their own time with appropriate social distancing measures in place. Participants are encouraged to walk or run at their own pace, clock their distance using a smart watch or smartphone, and follow all social distancing rules for outdoor activity, including participating only with people in your household and maintaining a distance of six feet from others.

Madison 5K banners will be placed at Dodge Field and all five Madison public schools (Madison High School at 170 Ridgedale Avenue, Madison Junior School at 160 Main Street, Central Avenue School at 50 Central Avenue, Kings Road School at 215 Kings Road, and Torey J. Sabatini School at Woodland Road). Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to take selfies in front of the banners, send photos to virtualmadison5k@mefnj.org for the “Virtual Victory Selfie Wall,” and post on social media with #MEFMadison5K.   Race t-shirts branded with this year’s winning design will be distributed to all virtual registrants. 

“Our mission at MEF is steadfast. Supporting Madison teachers and administrators as they navigate an uncertain timeline of distance learning and figure out a new ‘normal’ of teaching is more important than ever,”  said MEF President and 5K Co-Chair Colleen Taddeo. The virtual 1-mile or 5K run/walk can be done outside on tree-lined neighborhood streets or at home on a treadmill. 

Proceeds from the virtual race will support teacher-initiated grants awarded by MEF in all five Madison District public schools to enhance and enrich the academic and creative lives of students. 

Bib numbers will be assigned automatically and DIY bib templates are available so the family can get creative.  Feel free to dedicate your race with a thank you to a teacher, your hero, a frontliner or just draw a picture.  Click here for bib template.

We have 2 events and family pricing: 

1. 1Mile Run for all ages.   $20
2. 5K Run for all ages.  $20
3. Family Pricing (Multi-Person Pricing) is also available for 4-6 registrants at $60.  This will be effective once more than 3 participants have been added.
