Come out and enjoy the fresh Spring air of the Delaware Bayshore as we embark upon our 20th Annual 5k Run for the Schooner and 1 mile Walkathon. This morning is fun for the whole family, including the pets! Bring them all out for a serious 5k run, a serious 1 mile walk, or a fun run/walk. Whatever suits your age, lifestyle and desire. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM and the race begins at 9:00. Home made refreshments will be served. Awards are plentiful and unique! Click the link below for your printable entry blank.

On the first Saturday in April each year, this fun run/walk will take you on a course partially cross country, meandering through quaint Port Norris and its surrounds, including wetlands and historic fishing villages. Open to everyone of all ages, and including pets, bikes and strollers, this event is for people who take their 5k run very seriously, but also for family groups who wish to enjoy a beautiful walk with the family dog and the baby in the stroller. Renowned for the best post-run buffet, Bayshore Center at Bivalve cook up a feast to reward all participants. And the prizes are unique and bountiful!

Individuals who raise the most money for the event will be rewarded with a 10 tickets to sail, free, aboard the Schooner A. J. Meerwald.

 The group of two or more who raise $1500 or more will receive a private charter sail for up to 41 passengers on the Meerwald. 

Schools and other youth organizations that raise more than $825 can win an Education Sail for their class/group.

It is a fun day, in a unique environment and whether you win in your class or just enjoy a stroll on the wetlands, you will be well rewarded for participating.

The Bayshore Center at Bivalve’s mission is to motivate people to take care of the history, the culture and the environment of New Jersey’s Bayshore region through education, preservation and example. Originally established in 1988, the organization spent eight years painstakingly restoring the 1928 Delaware Bay Oyster Schooner A.J. MEERWALD, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
