Description
This is a virtual walk/jog/run/cycle/swim event to support the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and is being hosted by the Bling Ho's Facebook Group. This event is being organized by Beth Hardy. Future events will be organized by different group members who volunteer to do so. Anyone can take part from anywhere in the world!! Simply register and on Tax Day Weekend (April 14 & 15, USA) do your chosen activity then post in our forum about what you did for what distance and include any other information that you would like to share. Results will be tabulated and, hopefully, posted on an online results reporting site.
Please post your results to: http://bit.ly/bling-ho-results for final tabulation. All results must be entered no later than Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:59pm.
There will be two different categories: A virtual half marathon run/walk and an open division (you choose the activity and the distance).
All participants will recieve a custom e-bib via email approximately one week before the event that can be printed and worn on the day of the activity. If you are registering during the last week of registration, effort will be made to get your e-bib to you before the event weekend.
Half marathon finishers will receive a custom medal to celebrate their achievement. Because the medals are customized for this race it may take up to 6-8 weeks to receive the items from production and up to a week to be received in the mail.
All other participants will receive event participant ribbons. However, there is an option during the registration process to receive a medal for an extra $5. For runners/walkers there is a specific entry category for run/walk less than 13.1 miles WITH the medal on the first page of registration. For cyclists and swimmers, the option to add a medal onto your registration comes further into the process.
A PERSONAL NOTE FROM BETH:
This race is part of my fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Clovis, New Mexico to be held on May 11, 2012. As part of this fundraising effort, if a total of $2,000 is raised by May 10th, I will have my head shaved center stage at the event at around midnight. This will be taped and posted on YouTube and FB groups of which I am a member to prove follow through on this promise (I've done it once in 2007 and actually like the bald look!). As an aside...this spectacle would be completed roughly 45 days before my 30 year high school reunion!! Yes, I'll go to the reunion bald/stubbly if I have to!! Anything in the name of finding a cure!
As of 2/27/12, my current total raised in $880.00. You can follow my fundraising page here.
Roughly 80-90% of registration fees will go directly to the American Cancer Society whilst the remainder will cover expenses (medals/ribbons/postage).
Please join us and support a great organization!!
