The Family Resource Center is hosting Puppy Love, a 5K fun run/walk Sunday, September 15th, 2019 at Johnny Appleseed Park in Elko. This FUNdraiser allows participants to run or walk with their dogs. In addition to raising funds for FRC programming, it supports the spay/neuter program for our charity partner, Animal House Shelter and Sanctuary. The event also promotes physical exercise and socializing with runners, walkers, and dog lovers in a fun community event―all for a good cause!
The event is open to all participants, with or without a dog. The registration fee is $30 the day of the race or $20 (plus website processing fee) for pre-registration. The first 150 people to register will receive a WAG bag with an event shirt, dog items, one free raffle ticket, and sponsor gifts. Children under age 16 may run/walk, at no charge, with a registered adult; if children under age 16 want a WAG bag with an event shirt, they must register.
Same day registration begins at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the race. Walkers will start at 7:45 a.m. and runners will begin at 8:00 a.m. Following the 5K, a finish-line celebration includes music, a huge raffle, and free recovery refreshments and water. Awards for dogs include Top Dog, Best Costume and Friendliest Pup. For safety reasons all dogs must be current on vaccinations, remain on a 6-ft. leash, and be friendly participants.
