Urban Environmental Challenge 10k Cancelled

I wish I were writing this message telling you to get ready to prepare for a rugged, technical trail race in historic Van Cortlandt Park in the heart of the Bronx. Get ready for the Urban Environmental Challenge 10K!  Unfortunately, we are facing another challenge. Due to the heavy rain and wind over the last few days, Van Cortlandt Park has experienced extensive damage.  The New York City Parks team is working to address the damage but sent the following message:

"Please be advised we have blockages to several trails in the Northwest Forest including the Cross Country, Bridle Path, Cass Gallagher, and other trails. Worst damage is to the Cross Country in the wetland north of Rockwood and also along the eastern section above the Saw Mill Parkway. Large trees have come down blocking the trail. The uproots have also caused the tread to collapse into the large holes formed by the uplifted root plates."

If that is not enough, our teammates also set out on foot to assess the damage and have reported that areas of the trail are not only unsafe but impassable. We are not sure when the area will be cleared, so we have made the decision to cancel the race.  As such, we would like to give you the option of a full refund or donation to the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance.

We apologize profusely for having to cancel this race and hope to see you at a future event.
