Description

Sunday long run? How about a Sunday REALLY long run?! We've all been chomping at the bit to race -  so why not do it at Eisenhower Park with some congenial company? This is a no-frills race, so there is no shirt or giveaway, but it is a nice, chip-timed and scored event - and a BOSTON QUALIFIER - so put on your snappiest shoes and come join us!

 

AWARDS

There will be overall awards for the top male and female in each of the marathon and half marathon. 

There are no age group awards, but there are unique handmade medals for each finisher of the half and full marathons for both the live and virtual events.

VIRTUAL RACE:

Entry fee for virtual 13.1 or 26.2 race is $35, $30 for GLIRC Members. There are no awards for the virtual events. Registration will close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, January 31st  Results can be posted from 12:00 AM Sunday January 24th through 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 31st. 

Bib Pickup

There will be no day-of-race packet pickup!!! You MUST pick up ahead of time!

Bib pickup will be available:

Thursday, January 21st from 11AM - 6PM at Sayville Running Company located at 49 Main St, Sayville, NY 11782.

Friday, January 22nd from noon to 5 PM at the GLIRC Clubhouse*, 101 Dupont Street, Suite 24, Plainview

Saturday, January 23rd from 10AM to 3:30pm at the GLIRC Clubhouse*

*note pickup will be set up in the warehouse garage

If you signed up at late registration, your name will not be on the list. It would be helpful if you knew your bib number and to tell the volunteer when you registered. 

You can pick up a bib for someone else. If possible please bring their confirmation email to facilitate pickup.

REVISED PARTICIPANTS INSTRUCTIONS JANUARY 23RD:

Dear Live Race Participants:

Although much of this information has been sent to you previously,  PLEASE take the time to read through again as there is some additional information. We want to provide you with a great and safe racing experience tomorrow! 

Marathon wave starts at 8:45 AM (there is only one wave). Half Marathon waves start at 8:55 AM. (there will be 4 waves)

If you would like to switch from the live race to the virtual race, you must do so by 11:59PM tonight. Please follow the instructions HERE in order to make the change.

BIB PICKUP: 

There will be no day-of-race bib pickup!!! 
(we are prohibited from doing so in accordance with our permit from Nassau County) 

Bib pickup has ended.

DAY OF RACE PARKING:
Parking is at Fields 1 & 2. Field 1 is accessible off of Merrick Avenue, and Field 2 is accessible off of the southern part of Park Blvd near Hempstead Turnpike.  It is less than a five minute walk from either parking lot to the start.

BATHROOMS:
Available by the check-in tent in the Fieldhouse.
***Bathrooms will also be available at Parking Field 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6A. 

COVID 19 SAFETY CHECK-IN: 
Check in will take place from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM near the Field House between parking fields 1 & 2. Please arrive at the race site with your bib pinned on your shirt as we will not have pins available race day, and you will be less likely to forget it this way.

When you arrive at the race site, your temperature will be taken with an infrared thermometer. ***please help the volunteers by removing your hat or hair off of your forehead so it will be easier for them to access your forehead***
If your temperature is 100 degrees or above, you will be asked to leave and you will not be able to participate. If your temperature is below 100 degrees, the volunteer will mark your bib and you will then proceed to the table to hand in your Health Screening form. 

All participants will be required to bring with them the completed Health Screening form which you can download by clicking on the pdf attached to this email. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE FORM. After you hand in the form you will be given a bracelet which you will need to show in order to participate. 

WAVE START PROCEDURE:
Start time for the Marathon is 8:45 AM, and start time for the Half Marathon is 8:55 AM.  Waves will consist of 50 runners each and your number will indicate what wave you are assigned to. (see below)
It is anticipated that after the marathoners start, it will take approximately 15 minutes for all of the half marathoners to cross the starting line. Marathoners should be in their wave at the start by 8:35, and the half marathoners should be in their waves by 8:45. 

Cones will be set up down the middle of the path 6 feet apart. There will be a row of 25 cones leading to the start line. Runners will line up 2 abreast on either side of the cone on the path.   Each wave will be set up similarly as you wait to be brought to the start line. You will be asked to stand in your wave and to remain 6 feet apart from the runner on the other side of the cone, as well as from the runner in front of and behind you. You must also keep your mask on at all times until you cross the start line.  You can take off your mask while running the race, but you MUST put your mask back on immediately after crossing the finish line.  If you don’t follow this rule, you will be asked to leave the race site and you will be disqualified.

Marathoners will all start in one wave and will line up at the start as directed by the Start Line Volunteers. It is colored green on the Event Map. 

Half marathoners will be assigned to waves as follows according to your bib number with the color corresponding to the Event Map: (the colors are for visual purposes only and will not be painted on the ground)
200 to 250 Wave 1 (blue)
251 to 300 Wave 2 (red) 
301 to 350 Wave 3 (yellow)
351 to 400 Wave 4 (orange) 

 
Please look at the Event map to see where your wave will be. We will have teardrop mile markers that will correspond with your wave number, except for Wave 1 which will be the GLIRC Club teardrop. Start volunteers will be available to help you. 

The race will be chip timed, and runners will be brought to the start line 2 across, and will be sent off approximately every 10 seconds. Please follow the instructions of the starting line volunteers.  Please make sure you note the time on the clock as you cross the start mat. The clock will be started when the first marathoners cross the start line. 

You will be scored for the distance that you registered for. For example, if you signed up for the marathon, and you only complete the half marathon, you will not be scored for that distance. 

COURSE:
We will have course volunteers to guide you but please pay attention to the arrows on the course to help guide you as well. The course consists of four loops for the half marathon and eight loops for the full. Start and finish are in the same location. There will be a volunteer with a computer just past the start who will be able to tell you how many laps you have completed.  A course map may be found HERE for your convenience.

AID STATION:
We strongly encourage you to bring your own hydration and nutrition. However, there will be one aid station that you will pass on each loop located in front of the Field House. It will be supplied with 8oz bottled water, packaged pretzels and chips, and Gatorade powder for mixing in the water bottle. We will also have assorted energy gels available. If you take something from the aid station, you must keep moving and not congregate. We will have trash receptacles placed after the station for you to throw your trash in. 


FINISHER GRAB AND GO BAGS:
All finishers will receive a custom medal. Your medal, post-race refreshments (which will include bottled water and a banana), will be prewrapped grab-and-go, and will be handed to you as you leave the race site. Please note where they will be available on the Event area map.
****We will have grab and go bags set aside without medals for runners who don't complete their full race. 

RESULTS:
There will be no awards ceremony race day. We will contact the Overall Male and Female winners of each race to present them with their awards. There are no age group awards. 

If you signed up for them you will get text results after you finish. Results will not be posted, but they will also be available on Run Sign Up Here. 


BE SMART!
We want this to be a safe environment for our runners, volunteers and staff.  Please follow your common sense and practice social distancing guidelines.   If you don’t feel well on the morning of the Race, please stay home!

Please note that we have hired a private security firm who will be enforcing the social distancing protocols we have in place. If you are not adhering to the procedures set forth, you will be asked to leave.

Check In

There is no day-of-race registration and no day-of-race packet pickup.

** PLEASE print and fill out your COVID health form ahead of time and bring it with you so that we keep the area clear of clusters and safe for everyone. 

IMPORTANT DAY OF RACE INFORMATION

Parking is available in parking fields 1 and 2. Both parking fields are close to the start and finish area, and it is strongly suggested to leave your belongings in your vehicle, and to carry everything you need with you. We will not be responsible for personal belongings. 

Masks must be worn at all times when not running. You can remove your mask once you start but must put it back on once you finish. 

There will be an aid Station at the end of every 5.274375 Kilometer Loop which will have pre-bottled water, Gatorade, and pre-packaged foods available. It is STRONGLY encouraged that you bring your own hydration and nutrition to supplement what will be available! Please make sure you deposit the garbage in receptacles that will be just past the aid station. 

You must have your bib pinned to the front of your clothing and visible at all times. 

All race day activities will take place outside at the park. There will not be any indoor facility on race day.  The bathrooms WILL be open for your use.  

When you are finished, you will be given a grab and go finisher bag which will contain a bottle of water, a banana, a packet of Sport Tea, and pastries courtesy of sponsor All Round Foods.

WHEN/WHERE

You may run your race anywhere you choose at your own convenience and post your results anytime between January 24th and January 31st 2021. Complete your run, and upload your results and photos on the race website HERE.  (You can also go to your RunSignUp profile, go to your Upcoming races, and click on Submit Virtual Results. ) **Don't forget to print out your finisher's certificate after you submit your time by going back to the results! **
