We Climb For…

The FDNY Foundation is proud to partner with SL Green Realty Corp. for the 2nd Annual FDNY Foundation Climb to SUMMIT at One Vanderbilt in New York City on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Climbers will race up 1,100 feet in the sky to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt to highlight the importance of physical fitness for the brave FDNY firefighters, EMTs and paramedics who are always ready to respond at a moment’s notice. Funds raised will help purchase stair climbers for FDNY firehouses and EMS stations.

The Climb by the Numbers

Date of the climb - April 21, 2024
Location of the Climb – One Vanderbilt
How High You Will Climb – 1,100 Feet

Every Step Counts!

Recently, firefighters had to run up 21 flights of stairs donning full bunker gear weighing upwards of 60 lbs. in 70+ degree weather to rescue families trapped in a fire in a high-rise building as the elevators were inoperable. After such a strenuous climb, they then executed a lifesaving roof rope rescue on the outside of the building to save the occupants. Timing, training and physical fitness all played an integral part of the success of this life-saving incident. Your climb will help purchase stair climbers for FDNY firehouses and EMS stations.

How it Works...

Once you register, you will automatically become an Individual Fundraiser.  Your $100 entry fee will go toward the $400 minimum fundraising requirement. You will have until April 14, 2024, to complete your fundraising.  Should a portion of the minimum not be raised by the deadline, the credit card that was used to register will be charged the difference.

You can also choose to be part of a team by joining an existing team or creating a new team.  All fundraising will go toward an individual’s fundraising goal but just as fire response teams work together in the line of duty, so too will the fundraising efforts of each climber work to support their team’s fundraising initiative.
