Description

The race begins in front of the fire station on South Main Street at 9:00AM on May 17, 2020 in the Village of Northville, NY, and proceeds west out of the Village and south through the historic Sacandaga Park on Rte 152 with it’s towering pine trees. The route continues south on Rte 152 until reaching the Bunker Hill Rd. Runners will travel that entire road until reaching Rte 30, at which point they will turn north on Rte 30 and eventually loop back through Sacandaga Park on Rte 152 and then return to Northville, finishing where the race started.  Entrants are encouraged to be able to complete this 13.1 mile event in 3 hours 15 minutes, or less, due to traffic control limitations.
The terrain is mainly flat, with a few rolling hills and inclines, offering spectacular views of the Great Sacandaga Lake and the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Many racers in 2019 established new personal records and plan on returning in 2020.
Aid stations will be located approximately every 2 miles, with food and drinks also available near the finish line. Porta potties will be positioned near the aid stations and start/finish line. T-shirts will be given to all entrants, and all finishers will receive medals. Special prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall finishers for men and women, and other awards will be given to the first 2 finishers in each age category, as well. Net proceeds will benefit the Northville Firemen’s Association.
The field will be limited to 500 runners, with a minimum age of 14. We will not be having relays. Due to the majority of the event's expenses coming prior to the actual race, THE ENTRY FEE WILL BE NON-REFUNDABLE. The race will be held rain or shine, so come properly prepared. The event will not be canceled unless there are circumstances such as lightning or other immediate life-threatening situations prevalent. A bag-check service will be provided. A photo-ID will be needed to get your bib number. Bibs can be picked up the day before the race at the Northville fire station from 3PM - 5:30PM, or on the morning of the race starting at 7AM.
Basic Rules: Entrants cannot bring animals onto the course, and they cannot use strollers, bikes, skates, skateboards or other wheeled devices. Entrants must immediately obey any directives from race officials or law enforcement personnel. They must also treat all colleagues, officials and spectators respectfully and safely. Failure to act and respond properly will be grounds for immediate removal from the race. Runners must follow course signs and directions from traffic control personnel, and stay in the designated lanes at all times. Headphones and listening devices are discouraged because runners will be sharing some roads with traffic.
