Fleet Feet's 2022 Mardi Gras Fun Run

We hope you will join us for our first-ever Mardi Gras Fun Run on Sunday 3/6 at 9 am!  It's time to get creative and start thinking about putting those festive outfits together as of course there will be prizes (more on that below).  The run itself will be a 5K (3.1 ish miles) un-timed fun run around the Shoppes at South Hills Shopping Center.  

All participants will receive:
- A custom Mardi Gras race bib 
- A custom handmade Mardi Gras medal.  These medals are so amazing and can even be held up to your eyes as a face mask for a picture
- An authentic individual-sized King Cake 
- The opportunity dress up and enter our gift card drawing.  We will be giving away $250 in Fleet Feet gift cards! If we get 100+ participants, we will give away $500 in Fleet Feet gift cards.

Gift Card Drawing Specifics

Participants will earn various points for dressing up and will earn an entry to our gift card drawing ($250-$500 in Fleet Feet gift cards) for every 10 points earned.    
* Wear gold beads (1 point) 
* Wear purple beads (1 point) 
* Wear green beads (1 point) 
* Costume includes feathers (1 point) 
* Costume includes a Mardi Gras themed face mask (1 point) 
* Costume includes purple clothing (1 point) 
* Costume includes green clothing (1 point) 
* Costume includes gold clothing (1 point) 
* Costume includes a Mardi Gras themed hat or headpiece (2 points) 
* Costume includes a green, purple and/or gold tutu (5 points) 
* Costume includes green, purple and/or gold hair coloring or a wig (5 points) 
* Participant is part of a multi-person float of at least 3 participants (10 points) 
 
Registration is online only - there will be no in-store sign-ups for this event. Space is limited, don't wait to sign up and miss out!  This event will likely sell out. 

Runners & walkers of all paces are encouraged including first-time 5K'ers.  The run will take place in the South Hills Malls parking lot.  The run course is open to traffic and due to safety concerns, this event is not suitable for dogs or very small children.  We will allow strollers if you are comfortable with the risk of the roads being open to traffic and willing to start in the back to let the pack spread out at the start.  If you are bringing a stroller you must allow ample space between you and the runners or walkers in front of you.  The use of headphones is strongly discouraged and we promise that you won't need them anyway! 

We will send a pre-race email before 11:59 pm on Friday 3/4 with additional details, please register with a valid email address or you will not receive our important communications.  We have also recently discovered that our email address (info@fleetfeetpoughkeepsie) is being blocked by the hotmail server.  If you have a hotmail email address, if possible, please provide a different email during the registration process that we can use for communication. 

FAQs:
Is there a minimum age to participate?  
The route is open to traffic and this course is therefore not suitable for small children.  Please use your best judgment when registering minors for this event.  

Do you have a course map?
The fun run course works its way around the South Hills Mall parking lot.  If you are looking for more information beyond that, this event probably isn't for you ;)

Is there a waitlist if the event sells out? 
We will not have a waitlist for this event.  We have only enough bibs and medals as open registration spots and those who register but cannot attend will still get their goodies if they want them.  

I signed up but can't attend, can I transfer my registration? 
Yes!  Since this is an un-timed fun run you can have someone use your name to pick up your bib and run in your place.  If they are buying the spot from you, you would handle the economics of that on your end, we don't resell spaces.

What will happen if the weather is bad on the day of the event?  
How dare you even ask this question and risk it happening, lol.  The run will happen rain or shine however in the event of anything more than a dusting of snow, we would have the run on the alternate day of Sunday 3/20.
