Description

The Rochester River Chase is a "handicapped" running chase. Golf has handicaps - and our race has them too. Based on past performance, your starting time and race distance (11mile or 13.1 mile) will be adjusted so that you will have the chance to cross the finish line first. (see note below on maximum handicaps). You may register for either the Half Marathon or 11 Mile event however, the distance that you will actually run will be based on your assigned handicap.

Modeled after the famous Dipsea Trail Race, the scenic, mostly gentle trail race will begin with a staggered start resulting in a frantic "chase" to the finish. With fastest-time awards, team prizes, and the chance for every runner to make it to the finish line first.

The race will benefit local veterans groups.

Technical T-Shirts to all participants who sign up before July 4, 2015. Awards for the top 20 "chase" winners, fastest net times in male and female, and chase winner in high school, open, masters, veteran and super-veteran divisions. Three-person co-ed team competition awards based on cross-country scoring! (cross country scoring uses your finishing chase place, not net time)

Post-race awards party with food and entertainment.
On-site parking and restrooms.
Race size is limited to 250 - don't miss your chance - sign up today!

Note: The maximum handicap will be a 50 minute head-start and 11 miles of distance. Historically, a person that normally runs a 30 minute 5K would receive the maximum handicap. Runners will be assigned a distance based on their ability. Runners with a normal 5K finish time of 30 minutes or less may request to run the half marathon course but will not be permitted to start prior to 8am and must be able to complete the course by 10:30am. Runners with a maximum handicap will start the race at 8am sharp. No runner will start later than 8:50am.
