True classics never fade away - they come back stronger than ever, and that's certainly the case with the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation Classic Race-Run, Roll, Stroll-5K, 10K & Fun Run. This incredible, inspirational athletic event for individuals of all abilities is scheduled on Saturday, September 28th, 2019. You are invited to show your support for the runners, wheelchair racers, kids and families who will be challenging themselves in support of the region's premier physical rehabilitation hospital.
All of us at Helen Hayes Hospital are thrilled to be offering our annual Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation Classic Race on September 28, 2019. The first Classic Race took place in the pouring rain in 1983, but that did not dampen the spirits of everyone who was involved. The Race continued through 1997 and in its heyday, the Classic was one of the NYC metro area’s largest and most anticipated races, bringing in star athletes from across the country. These athletes not only included runners, but also world-class handcyclists and wheelchair racers, such as the late world-record-holding wheelchair racer, John Rodolph. After a 17-year hiatus, with the resurrection of the Classic Race, we hope to see a new generation of athletes tackling our challenging 5k & 10K courses through Haverstraw and Stony Point.
In addition to the excitement of the race, we are looking forward to connecting with members of our community during our race day festivities. The day is not only a chance to have fun and join together in cheering on the Classic racers, but to get to know each other and support the HHH Foundation. The Foundation supports so many worthwhile programs and services here at the Hospital and the proceeds from the event will ultimately benefit our patients.
This year’s Classic Race is dedicated to the memory of Niles M. Davies, Jr. Mr.Davies was a founding organizer of the very first Classic and took tremendous pride in the race and the hospital. It is our immense privilege to launch the new era of the Classic in his honor.
All proceeds from the event go directly to support the programs, services and equipment to help the patients of Helen Hayes Hospital the greatest level of recovery they can. To show your support, please register to participate in this wonderful event.
Sign up early and we'll see you September 28, 2019 for an amazing day dedicated to health, hard work, and our community. See you at the Classic!
