28th Annual Lynn Gartner Dunne, LLP Rob's Run is a 5K Cross Country Race in Stillwell Woods, Syosset, NY. There is both individual and team competition. The race is run in memory of Rob Lauterborn, member of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Road Runner's Club, talented runner and extraordinary human being. 

PLEASE NOTE: Rob’s Run is a cross country run, not a road race. Surfaces on the grass and cross country trails may be uneven. Please keep your wits about you! Headphones strongly discouraged for the safety of all the runners.


Stillwell Woods is located on South Woods Road, one mile North of Jericho Turnpike (Route 25) in Syosset. Use GPS address of 24 South Woods Road, Woodbury. 
From L.I.E., Northern State or Southern State Parkway: Take Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (Route 135) north to Jericho Turnpike eastbound. Left onto South Woods Road. Stillwell Woods is located about 1 1/4 miles on the right. Please follow the directions of the parking volunteers. 



Individual entry fee for the in person, live  5k race is $35, $30 for GLIRC Members. Registration will close at 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 18th or when registration reaches the 500 participant cap, whichever comes first. Participants can run as an individual or can register as an individual and join or create a team 


Entry fee for virtual 5k race is $30, $25 for GLIRC Members. There are no teams or awards for the virtual 5k. Registration will close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 6th. Results can be posted from 9:00 am Sunday, November 29th through 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 6th. 


If you are registered for the live race but would like to transfer to the virtual race, this option is available through 11:59pm on Saturday, November 28th.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Lynn Gartner Dunne, LLP Rob's Run 5k on Sunday morning! The race will be starting and finishing on the soccer fields at Stillwell Woods with the first wave going off at 9:00am. Check in will start at 7:45am and end at 8:45am. 

A lot of this information is a repeat of the first email, however some of it is new. PLEASE take the time to read through this so we can provide you with a great and safe racing experience on Sunday. 

If you would like to switch from the live race to the virtual race, you must do so by 11:59pm on Saturday. Please follow the instructions here in order to make the change.

Please click here to view the Event Race Day Map. Please note that the parking lot in the front is reserved for staff and volunteers. Participant parking will be available on the south side of the soccer fields (the driveway leading to the back) as well as at the Center for Developmental Disabilities. Please follow the directions of the parking volunteers. As noted on the map, there will be porta potties available. 

When you arrive at the race site, your temperature will be taken with an infrared thermometer. If your temperature is below 100 degrees, the volunteer will mark your bib.  If your temperature is 100 degrees or above, you will be asked to leave and you will not be able to participate.

All participants will be required to bring with them the completed Nassau County Health Screening form which you can download by clicking on the pdf attached to this email. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE FORM. After you hand in the form you will be given a bracelet which you will need to show in order to participate. 

Bib's have been mailed to you already. If you have not received your bib yet, please email us ASAP at so we can arrange for you to pick up a replacement bib at the GLIRC office tomorrow morning.

The first number of your race number indicates your wave assignment and there are a total of 6 waves. Please arrive at the race site with your bib pinned on your shirt as we will not have pins available race day.

In order to minimize runners passing each other along the course, runners have been seeded by predicted time, with the fastest runners in the first wave, second fastest in the second wave, etc. Wave locations will be indicated by teardrop mile markers, with the exception of wave 1 which will be the GLIRC Start banner. There will be volunteers checking you into your assigned wave, and there will be marks on the grass where you will stand while waiting to start. Please click here to see how it will be set up. It is important to line up in your wave in bib order as bibs were assigned according to your anticipated finishing time. 

Race time is 9am, and although it is a wave start, all participants will need to be in their wave by 9:00am. The run will be chip timed, and runners will be brought to the start line 5 across, and will be sent off approximately every 10 seconds. Please follow the instructions of the starting line volunteers.  Please make sure you note the time on the clock as you cross the start mat. We anticipate that all runners will have started by 9:15. 

If you are on a team, your start time will not affect team scoring. Also, if you need to make any changes, you must email us by 11am Saturday morning. THERE WILL BE NO CHANGES MADE ON RACE DAY!

We will have course volunteers to guide you but please pay attention to the arrows on the course to help guide you as well. A copy of the course map is available here.

Runners will be required to wear masks before they start. You can take off your mask while running the race, but you MUST put your mask back on immediately after crossing the finish line.  If you don’t follow this rule, you will be asked to leave the race site and you will be disqualified.

There will be no start water or water stations on the course, so you must carry your own water.

Post race refreshments, which will include bottled water, will be prewrapped grab-and-go, and will be handed to you, along with the Run Giveaway, as you leave the finish area.  

We usually keep the giveaway a "surprise" however as in everything else being different this year, we have to divulge that information before race day to make the finish area move smoothly. We will be giving out one of our very popular previous giveaways which are fleece gloves. The gloves come in two sizes: small/medium and large/xlarge. There will be two tents as you leave the finisher area which will have signs on them to indicate one tent for small/medium and one for large/xlarge. The smaller gloves are sized primarily for women and the larger gloves for the men, but we understand that there will be exceptions. We need the finisher area to move quickly so please know ahead of time what size gloves you plan on taking as there won't be an opportunity to try them on. 

There will be no Awards Ceremony on the day of the Run.  We will be scheduling a Facebook live awards ceremony, and awards will be mailed out to the winners as soon as practicable afterwards.

We want this to be a safe environment for our runners, volunteers and staff.  Please follow your common sense and practice social distancing guidelines.   If you don’t feel well on the morning of the Run, please stay home!

Please note that we have hired a private security firm who will be enforcing the social distancing protocols we have in place. If you are not adhering to the procedures set forth, you will be asked to leave.

Individual Awards: First three Male & Female open and first three Male and Female masters; first three Male & Female in age groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19; 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85 & over.

Team Awards:* Team awards to the top three teams in each of the following categories:

Team award results will not be affected by team members starting in different waves.

All Team Awards will be computed on the basis of “cross country scoring,” i.e. by place.

Virtual Race Information & Participant Instructions


You may run your race anywhere you choose at your own convenience and post your results anytime between November 29 and December 6, 2020. Complete your run, and upload your results and photos on the race website HERE.  (You can also go to your RunSignUp profile, go to your Upcoming races, and click on Submit Virtual Results. ) **Don't forget to print out your finisher's certificate after you submit your time by going back to the results! **
