Celebrate energy in motion with us on September 12, 2021.

You can register now for the 2021 AEP Ohio Columbus 10K Presented by Orangetheory Fitness, to be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Olentangy Liberty Middle School in Powell, Ohio.

Due to the uncertainty with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we were not able to get a permit secured for our event in downtown Columbus for our originally scheduled date in June of 2021 and were also not able to move the event date but stay in downtown Columbus. For one year only, the AEP Ohio Columbus 10K will be held in Powell, Ohio. At the time of this date/venue change announcement (March 31), the City of Powell and Delaware County ARE ALLOWING races to take place. We're very excited to have an approved race venue and can't wait to see you on September 12, 2021, for the 44th Annual AEP Ohio Columbus 10K.

Participant cap: based on health department guidelines, the current in-person registration cap for this event is 1,500. If there are updates to these guidelines, the event cap may be raised prior to the event. There is no cap for the virtual event.

As of 12:01 PM on Monday, April 12, the in-person 10K is SOLD OUT at 1,500 registrants. This cap may be increased/lifted in the future as conditions and regulations allow. If this happens, announcements will be made via email, social media, and on the race website. Please use the 'Questions' button below if we can help in any way.

If the event you signed up for originally matches how you want to participate in September (ie, in-person -> in-person OR virtual -> virtual) you do not need to do anything, we have automatically moved you to the corresponding event in September.

To verify the event you're currently registered for: in your RunSignup profile go to My Registered Races OR use our Participant Tracking page

If you registered for in-person and would like to switch to virtual: please view the help topic for transferring to another event

If you registered for virtual and would like to switch to in-person (while spots remain): please view the help topic for transferring to another event

If you registered for our original June date but no longer wish to participate: please see the help topic on bib transfer

If you registered for our Kids Run and no longer wish to participate: click here to email our team so we can open up your spot for others.

Originally run as the Citizen-Journal 10K in the summer of 1977, the AEP Ohio Columbus 10K is "The Oldest Road Race in Columbus".

COVID Safety

This race will be safe!

Here's what we'll be doing to keep everyone as safe as possible, our COVID-19 protective plan:
  • Minimal person-to-person contact at check-in and throughout the event
  • Limited attendance
  • Individually packaged on-course water and post-race water/snacks
  • Hand sanitization stations throughout the race venue
  • Separate start and finish areas
  • Masks required for staff and volunteers at all times
Here's what we'll need you to do to keep everyone as safe as possible:
  • Stay home if you're symptomatic. Please perform a self-symptom check prior to leaving your home. If you are experiencing fever, shortness of breath, or a persistent cough: STAY HOME!
  • Socially distance - stay 6' from others and follow all start corral instructions
  • Bring a mask. Masks will be required by everyone (including staff, volunteers, spectators, etc) on-site when not running on the course. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you upon entry. Athletes may remove their mask at the starting line, carrying it with them to the finish where they will put it back on until they return to their vehicle.
  • Spectators are permitted but will not be allowed in certain higher-traffic areas (immediate start/finish line). Spectators must follow social distancing guidelines, with individuals or family units staying at least 6-feet from other individuals or family units. Spectators will be required to wear a mask at all times.
  • Please do not arrive at the race site more than 45 minutes prior to your start time. Plan to depart the race site after you complete your event - participants should not plan to stick around after they have completed their race.

Our safety precautions are in place for the safety of everyone involved and are a requirement for this event to happen. Without these safety precautions in place, this event will not be allowed to proceed. Thank you for complying, we all appreciate it!
