Description

This is a 10k and 5k race that will be run "Time Trial Style" on the Fanno Creek Regional Trail. The race is chip-timed by Huber Timing. Participants can sign up for the 10k, 5k, or both races.

10k: You’ll need to be at Greenway Park and crossing the start line between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. No 10k participants will be allowed to start after 8:30 a.m.

5k: You can start any time between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The start line will close exactly at 9:30 a.m.

The course for both 10k and 5k participants will close at 11 a.m., a full 90 minutes after the last 5k participant start time.

ORRC members can sign up for the 10k for $25, for the 5k for $20, and for both races for $35. Non-ORRC members can sign up for the 10k for $35, for the 5k for $30, and for both races for $45. Goodr brand sunglasses are available for $15 while supplies last. Participants that are age 18 or younger, contact us for a discount code to make your registration $15 for the 10k and $10 for the 5k.

Day of race registration will be $40 for the 10k and $30 for the 5k. The double will be $50 day of race. No ORRC discount is available day of race.

The 2019 Greenway Trail Trial course crosses SW Hall Boulevard with traffic control by the Beaverton Police Department and runs all the way to SW Denney Rd. There is only one road (SW North Dakota) to cross on the southern part of the course as well. The turnaround is at SW Tigard Street and does not enter the Dirkson Nature Park at all.

Overall awards will be mailed to the top three men and top three women in each of these categories: Open 10k Run, Open 10k Walk, Master's 10k Run, Master's 10k Walk, Open 5k Run, Open 5k Walk, Master's 5k Run, and Master's 5k Walk. There is no "double-dipping" which means if a master's athlete places top three in the open category, they will be named as an Open winner and removed from Master's awards.

We still need a number of volunteers for this race on Labor Day. It is easy to volunteer and run or walk this event - if you sign up to volunteer and plan to compete, the race directors will secure a start time that works with your volunteer shift.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can we park?
A: Parking is available at Greenway Elementary School. It is possible to park on some surrounding streets but this is strongly discouraged to lessen our impact on the neighborhood.

Q: Where is the Start/Finish located?
A: The Start/Finish is located next to the tennis courts & playground at the corner of SW Greenway Blvd and SW Parkview Loop. We will be staged at the covered structure there.

Q: Are there restrooms available?
A: Porta potties will be at the Start/Finish. We will not provide restrooms along the course.

Q: Will there be an awards ceremony?
A: No.

Q: Is there a bag check?
A: No.

Q: What's an out-and-back course?
A: The 10k will follow the course through the Fanno Creek Regional Trail to a turn-around point and retrace your exact path to return to the finish line.

Q: Does this event count towards the 10k Series points?
A: Yes.

Q: How long is the course open?
A: The Start line will close at 7 a.m. for both races. The 10k start line closes at 8:30 a.m. and the 5k start line closes at 9:30 a.m. The course closes for both races at 11 a.m., so please plan accordingly.

Q: Will the trail be crowded?
A: It might be ... It will always be a possibility that the park could see heavy use especially if the weather is nice. To help ease the traffic on the trail system we use a Time Trial format that allows participants to show up whenever they want during a the specifically described windows for each race.

Q: Can I run/walk with my friends?
A: Yes. We will release participants in small groups of up to 15 people at regular intervals. This is to help spread participants out. If you are running/walking with someone please be considerate and do not block the entire trail.

Q: Is this race chip-timed?
A: Yes. A chip time will be used to record official results across the finish line.

Q: Are the streets/trails closed for this event?
A: No. It's Labor Day so street traffic will be lighter but the park is open to all users. Please exercise caution on the course.

Q: Can I run with a GPS watch?
A: Yes. Understand that any dense tree cover will heavily impact the accuracy of GPS devices.

Q: What sort of terrain will we run on?
A: The course is entirely within the Fanno Creek Regional Trail system and it is paved. There are two street crossings if you are running/walking the 10K.

Q: How many water stations are on the course?
A: There are two water stations along the out-and-back course. You will access the water stations three times.

Q: Can I run with a stroller?
A: We highly discourage strollers at all ORRC events. With that said, this course does take place entirely in a park with the exception of the two street crossings for the 10K. Again, the park is not closed to other users so there will be bicycles, children, dogs, runners/walkers and disc golfers.

Q: Can I run with headphones?
A: The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, Greenway Trail Trial encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of Greenway Trail Trial.

Q: Can I volunteer to help?
A: Yes! Please email Volunteer@OregonRoadRunnersClub.org
