The Stars, Stripes and Shelter 5K is a virtual walk/run put on by Planting Seeds Community of Beaverton to support local organizations that help people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity find or remain in secure housing. Participants choose the time and place (centered around the July 4th weekend!) to get their steps in and to help us put a spotlight on efforts to help our community's most vulnerable folks.
**NOTE: This is a "virtual run/walk". There is NO meeting place - participants choose the date, time & route of their choice and are encouraged to document their participation on social media with the hashtag #starsstripesandshelter and/or #starsstripesandshelter2021.
Planting Seeds Community of Beaverton helps to support marginalized youth in the Beaverton School District, and funds raised from this race will go to support the housing efforts of awesome local organization HomePlate Youth Services in 2021! HomePlate Youth Services supports the positive development of young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability through community building, education, access to services and resources, and youth empowerment. Those services include working with youth ages 12 - 24 to find access to housing and learning the skills they need in order to stay in homes once they find them.
Everyone deserves to have a safe and secure place to call home.
