Please join us on Thursday, February 15th on the Portland Waterfront for the 2018 Ocean Sciences 5K Fun Run along the Portland Downtown Waterfront.The race will be a great way to enjoy Portland's gorgeous waterfront and get a group workout in during the conference.
Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up: Wednesday, February 14th, 8:00am to 5:00pm (Registration Area). Packets can be picked up for colleagues if you have their permission, but you must know their full name and age. (Please see 'Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up' section below for more information).

The 5K will start bright and early at 6am on Thursday February 15th and the route will be an out and back paralleling the West Side Portland Waterfront. The race will start/finish at Tomodachi Friendship Circle which is located on the north side of Waterfront Park right at the base of the Steel Bridge. It is a 15 minute walk (0.7 miles) from the Oregon Convention Center and a 5 minute walk from the Old Town/Chinatown MAX Station. Uber and Lyft may also be used to get to and from the race (at the runner's expense). A map will be included in your Race Packet, available for pick-up on Wednesday, February 14th.
The route will go south along the paved trail to Marquam Bridge, turn-around, and return along the same route to Tomodachi Circle. You will enjoy views of Portland's picturesque waterfront.
Prizes will be awarded to the Top Overall Male and Female Finishers.
Course Lighting and Weather
The race start time is 6am, which is an hour before sunrise in Portland on February 15th. The course has lighting from street lamps on the route however for safety reasons it is suggested participants bring a headlamp or flashlight with them.
Mid-February in Portland is also typically wet (sometimes snowy), with average low temperatures in the mid to upper 30's. Please keep these conditions in mind when selecting appropriate running attire.
Timing
The race will be professionally chip timed by Huber Timing. A disposable timing chip will be attached to the back of your race bib. Please wear your race bib on your chest or front of your shorts. Results will be posted to http://www.hubertiming.com/results/2017OSM (results will be updated in real time on event day, please check back at that time).
Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up
Pre-Race Pick-Up will be held on Wednesday, February 14th in the Conference Registration Area from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Participants are asked to bring a copy of their confirmation email, as well as a photo ID. Race packets will include a timing chip, race bib and directions to the Race Site. Packets can be picked up for colleagues if you have their permission, but you must know their full name and age.
On-Site Registration will be available at Packet Pick-up and on Race Morning, from 5:00am to 5:45am. On-site Registration will be payable by CREDIT CARD ONLY.
Refunds and Transfers
No refunds will be issued for this event, however registered participants do have the option to transfer their bib to another runner. Please contact us using the 'Questions?' link above to request a transfer.
