In light of the continuing spread of COVID-19 and the CDC’s social distancing recommendations for the foreseeable future, we have made the decision to convert our in-person Superhero Run to a completely Virtual Superhero Run on the same weekend! Our race will now be a Virtual Run which will occur from April 24th – April 26th. During this time participants can run any 5K distance and upload their times to the Superhero Race website. We will allow people to submit times on their honor and we will still award medals in all categories for top finishers. Even though the race won’t be taking place at North Park this year, we know that switching to a virtual race is the right choice to ensure the safety of all our participants, volunteers, and spectators, and we are going to try our best to still make this a fun activity in spite of events beyond our control.
All registrants will have two options:
1. The first is to run virtually. We are still encouraging costumes with the Virtual Run, and we’ll still have our costume contest! We will also still be rewarding prizes for best costumes in several categories based on these (optional) photo submissions!
2. Your second option is to convert your race registration into a 100% charitable donation to CASA of Allegheny County, the children’s charity who is the beneficiary of the Superhero Run. As many of you already know, every year the Superhero Run benefits CASA, a nonprofit whose sole mission for the past 27 years is to provide one-to-one volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children. Your donated registration fee will directly benefit the abused and neglected children CASA serves.
Thank you as always for caring about our kids, and please be well.
