Description

The Susquehanna Township Alumni Association partnered with some of the STSD students are holding our second annual color run. Proceeds from this event benefit the Susquehanna Township Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Along with the proceeds from other events that we held, last year we were able to donate a total of $8000 to our charities. Proceeds from this year's campaign will be split between Vickie's Angel Walk and Pink Hands of Hope.

We are happy to bring back the color run as one of our fundraisers for the campaign. Each runner will receive a white T-shirt with black lettering and a goody bag full of items donated by our sponsors. By the end of the race your shirt will be full of color!

Online registration is now closed but same day registrations will be accepted at the same rate.$20 for students and $35 for everyone else. Shirts will not be guaranteed for same day registrants. If you sign up now, please wear a white shirt to the run as we have limited swag bags and extra T-shirts left.

Kids under the age of 5 years old will be free of charge but will not receive a Shirt or Runners Bag. Everyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 to the event.

Please look to join us on October 21st to get some fresh air, get some color on you, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Please check out the photos from last year under the photo tab.

Special thanks to all of our sponsors for the event who can be found below on this registration page.

In Honor of Patty Frye

This year the Susquehanna Township Alumni Association’ Breast Cancer Awareness Committee would like to dedicate the Color Run to Mrs. Patty Frye.

Patty has been a long-time supporter, teacher, and friend of so many throughout the district. Starting her journey as a teacher at Thomas Holtzman, Patty spent 17 years teaching students throughout the township. In 2017, Mrs. Frye, (as her students knew her by) moved to the middle school as an instructional coach to help other teachers make larger impacts on all their students. Outside of the classroom, Patty was also involved with the school musicals, Hanna’s Pantry, and also helped with Pink Out for a few years during a transition period in our event.

“She loved being there to help and give back to the community.”

- Rick Frye.

At home, Patty loved to spend time with her family and pet dogs Charlie and Leo. She loved to be outside and travel with her family. Some of the most memorable trips the family shared were their trips to London England, Los Angeles and San Diego. Aside from traveling cross countries and boarders, Patty loved to take trips to the beach and just be by the ocean.

In August of 2021, Patty found a lump while sitting and watching TV that concerned both her and her husband. She quickly made a doctor’s appointment and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer within a few short weeks. The family states that they took those first few months one week at a time to help manage the stress of the constant doctor appointments and treatments. But Patty never lost her spirit. She never lost her drive, and she would always look for the positive within each day. She fought her battle with chemotherapy, radiation, as well as multiple different surgeries. Always with her family by her side at her appointments. Slowly and eventually getting better, Patty was able to stop chemo and radiation for a few months in the beginning of 2023. Enjoying the time, she continued to work and spend time with her family. She was also able to visit her daughter Gabby at college in Philadelphia.

Patty unfortunately became sick again in the late spring of 2023. She developed pain within her upper back and was taken to the emergency department where they found metastatic sites of the breast cancer in her brain and spine. They tried radiation and more chemotherapy, but unfortunately, she became too sick to continue treatment. Transferred to a specialty care facility and then rehab in Harrisburg as a transition period for the family, Patty was able to spend her last days surrounded by family and friends that were able to visit and love her until her unfortunate passing on July 8th, 2023.

This write up was written with the Help of Rick and Gabby Frye who wanted to help spread awareness of Patty’s journey. Rick was surprised by the outreach and support at Patty’s funeral. Able to see her overall impact as teachers, students, and military members from his time in the service gathered and told stories of their memories of Patty. Gabby also shared how her mother never lost her spirit and fight every step of the way up to the very end. They would like to thank everyone who has shown support and will be joining us for our color run this year.

At the Color Run, we will have a moment of silence for us to remember Mrs. Patty Frye and her journey as well as anyone else who has fought breast cancer.
