How do I sign up and what are the different options to participate? We have created numerous ways to participate!
When does online registration close?
Friday March 5 at 5pm.
Are refunds offered if I realize I cannot participate?
All registrations are final and refunds will not be issued. If you register for the Race Against Violence and are unable to participate, or if the event is cancelled, we will consider your registration fee a donation to the Houston Area Women’s Center to benefit those affected by domestic and sexual violence.
Is there special recognition for top fund-runners?
Yes! Top fundraisers who raise $500+ have access to special benefits on race day. Benefits include: Top Fundrunner tent access with special breakfast goodies and HAWC swag.
Also registration fees can be waived if $150 is raised for the 5K timed and un-timed.
How can I join or create a team?
Teams can be formed during the registration process. The first person to create a team will become the team captain and team creator. Once the team is created, people can easily join the team during registration.
Do I have an option to fundraise for the event even if I do not plan to attend?
We have an option for everyone! You can register as a “Sleep In” level if you would like to participate and have access to the fundraiser platform to send out emails, post to social media, track your progress, etc. You can also, become a fundraiser without participating or paying the registration fee if you do not plan to attend in person.
What time does the Kids Fun Run begin?
The start time for the Kids Fun Run race is 8:00 a.m.
What ages is the Kids Fun Run?
Children 12 and under are welcome to participate.
How much it is it to register?
Free to participate and all children receive a custom race finisher medal.
Does my child have additional incentives and opportunities to fundraise?
If your child raised $100 they will receive a special custom race tech shirt in addition to the finisher medal.
Where is there starting line?
The starting line is on the corner of Waugh Dr. and D'Amico
Can I run/walk with my child?
Yes, parents will be allowed to run with their children in the Kids Fun Run. The run is short and children stay visible from the start to finish.
Do children receive a medal?
Yes, all kids will receive a medal as they cross the finish line but must register.
Where do I pick up my packet?
If you are participating in the race, packet pick-up is scheduled for Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6 from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Location: Momentum Indoor Climbing at 1401 Silver Street, Houston Texas 77007. Packets are also available to be picked up the morning of the race from 6:00 - 7:30 a.m.
Can someone else pick up my packet?
Yes. Please have your proxy come to one of our packet up locations to pick up your packet.
If you would like to picking up race packets for your team of runners/walkers please contact the event manager at email@example.com by noon on March 4th. Packet pick-up is Thursday, March 5 and Friday March 6 from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Location: TBD
Can I pick up my packet on race day?
Yes, but lines will be very long, and there is not a bag drop area and we strongly encourage you to pick up your packet before Race Day.
Will you mail my shirt?
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to mail participant shirts.
Is the race tax deductible?
Our Race Against Violence registration fee has an estimated fair market value of $15.
What time does the race start?
The 5K race begins promptly at 8:30 am and the kids race starts at 8:00 am.
Will restrooms be provided?
Port-o-cans will be located along D’Amico Street between AIG & Whole Foods and in the lot adjacent to the Women’s Center Can I run/walk with my stroller? Yes, but please line-up towards the back, behind all runners and walkers
Can I run with my dog?
For the safety of all runners; pets, skates, bikes and skateboards are prohibited
Do all finishers receive a medal?
Only children participating in the Kids Fun Run will receive a medal but all participants receive an event tech shirt with registration.
What if it rains?
The race is on, rain or shine! However, should there be a safety risk for participants or volunteers, an announcement will be posted on the RAV website.
Where can I park?
Free parking is available at America Tower Garage Extension next to the AIG Building.
Directions from I-10: Access Garage by traveling south on Shepherd and turning left onto W. Dallas
Directions from 59: Take Shepherd exit and travel north to W. Dallas Turn right on W. Dallas
Volunteers will be available to direct you to the parking garage on W. Dallas and Waugh. HPD will close the surrounding streets of the race at 7:00 a.m. and Allen Parkway will close approximately one hour before the race.
Parking is not allowed in the Whole Foods Market parking lot. Violators could be towed.
Can I wear my own chip?
No, we will provide chips to all of our Basic Timed participants. All participants must have their bib pinned to the front of their shirt or shorts.
Where can I find the race results?
Race results will be displayed electronically at the Finish line, announced at the post-race festival, and posted on our website.
What if my information or results are not correct?

What are the prizes for the winners?
$500 cash prize overall will be awarded to overall winners, female and male, and $250 cash prize to overall masters female and male. Complete race results will be available no later than 14 days after the race on our website.
