This is not a charity event, it's a community event. Funds will be used to ensure a safe event, provide top notch swag, and prepare for future community events.
A modified in-person event is when there is a defined course or courses in a specific area but there are no officials there to record your start and finish times. There is usually some course support (marking along the route to help guide your run, for example) but there is no timing equipment used to record your time. The Run Cane Bay 5k & 10k modified in-person event will use an activity tracking app called RaceJoy to track your progress and record your results. We will have course support from 7:00AM until 11:00AM on Saturday, March 27th.
RaceJoy is an event tracking app that can be used to enhance your event experience. It uses the GPS in your phone to track your progress as you run and, if you enter in your bib number, it can automatically publish your results when you are done! Check out more about RaceJoy here. You can still use a fitness activity tracking app at the same time (such as Garmin or an Apple Watch). In fact, it is encouraged. RaceJoy should be considered an 'event tracking app' (tracking your progress and submitting your finish time) while your fitness app is tracking your actual activity (tracking your heart rate and steps, etc...).
No. However, since this is a modified in-person event, you will need to keep track of your time and enter it manually. You can use any activity tracking to record your progress and submit your results here. Make sure you select the correct event / distance.
Packet Pickup will be at the YMCA on March 24th and March 26th.
You can come after the event to get your packet but no race day pickup allowed.
Due to the need to repurchase items, we are not able to offer refunds. You will receive your swag regardless. In the event this race changes, as long as you complete the course using RaceJoy you will still be eligible for in-person prizes and drawings.
The YMCA does not allow pets on their property.
If you need to run with a stroller, please yield to other participants on the course.
The race is open to all ages. Those under 18 must be registered and accompanied by an adult. We have unisex shirt sizes from XS to 4XL.
No mass gatherings are allowed. We discourage groups of 6 or more and our awards ceremony will be live streamed on Monday March 28th.
No, but you will receive the sweet socks and finisher shirt!
You participate at your own risk. Please yield to other participants that may be nearby. When this FAQ was prepared, there was a section of the course that is not paved. It is short, but it may be difficult for a wheelchair athlete to navigate.
Free parking is available at the YMCA and overflow street parking is available.
The YMCA will be open for bathrooms during the event.
The event will have an open start between 7:00AM and 10:30AM on March 27th. We encourage you to use the RaceJoy tracking app to record your progress and automatically submit your results when you are done. When you register, you will be asked to select a wave start time. We ask that you arrive ready to run a few minutes before your wave time.
This event is scored and timed with a rolling start, each runner’s progress can be monitored via the RaceJoy app.
We reserve the right to remove course support in the event of inclement weather. However, since the race can be complete on the course from 7am on Friday to 6pm on Sunday, you can run whenever you feel the conditions are better for you.
A live race awards ceremony will be held Monday at noon. Winners can then pick up their awards at the Cane Bay Family YMCA.
Face masks are encouraged when social distancing isn’t possible. Each participant will be given a cloth face covering buff as part of their registration.
While the course is on public trails only paid participants will be able to use the RaceJoy app and be included in the results.
You can but then no prizes, awards, or cool gear.
