General Run Information

When is the Run? The Run will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The Run start time will be at 10 AM, but the site opens and activities begin at 8:30 AM.

Where is the Run? The Run will be held at Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City, MI 49696.

Is my registration fee tax-deductible? No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the run and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate directly to Munson Healthcare’s Women’s Cancer Fund above the entry fee is tax-deductible. We have provided the link to allow you to do this.

What is included in the registration fee?  You will get a run bib number, a Remembrance Run Day Pack, and a great feeling!

How much money from registration will go to the Women’s Cancer Fund?
The Remembrance Run is an event funded by the Traverse City Track Club to help raise awareness of the challenges faced by women who have been diagnosed with, and are being treated for breast cancer. The site of the event is donated by Timber Ridge RV Recreation and Resort. Raffle prizes are donated. Expenses include the participant souvenir, food and beverages, volunteer group donation, course supplies and signage, registration supplies, event public relations, advertising, race bibs, and a race director who coordinates the event. Thanks to supporters like these, we donate a large percentage of the profit once expenses are paid, and produce a check to the Women’s Cancer Fund. This has typically been between $5000 and $8000 annually. This annual amount, along with other fundraising activities including the identification of direct support from sponsors from past events has equaled over $240,000 in the event’s 25 year history.

Will I receive tax-deduction receipt for my entry?
Not for your entry.  Because we are providing goods and services to you for your registration, only a very small small percentage of your entry would be tax deductible.

How much of my donation will go to the Women’s Cancer Fund?
100%. Munson Medical Center administers this fund and does not charge any administrative fees.

How can I register? You can register online by clicking "Signup" above.

How will I receive my Run packet including my Day Pack and bib? Registration and Packet Pick-Up will be available on the days immediately prior to the Run and on Run day.

How long is the Run? The Run is a 5K route, which is 3.1 miles. There is also a shorter route option (approximately 1 mile). You may choose to walk or run either route. If you are unable to walk or run, you can register for the gear, donate, and join us on Run day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers.

What kind of course is the 5k/1Mile walk/run?
The course is a mainly flat loop on well-used mostly two-track state forest trails. Most of it is wide enough for participants to walk 2-4 abreast.  Small sections are sandy, but most is hard-packed dirt trail.  Those concerned with footing should be aware of a few small areas where roots are visible.  The course has one hill that is about 300’ long and there are sections that add up to about 500’ of sandy area.

How can I become a volunteer? The success of the Remembrance Run depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the Run and on Run Day. There are many ways you can get involved, for more information, click here (to volunteer section)

Are pet and strollers allowed at the event? Pets and strollers are permitted but you are liable for any harm caused to others by having these at the event and on the course.

What if it rains? Traverse City Track Club holds the right to cancel or change the date or location of the run in its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather. It is likely, however, that the event will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
Does the Remembrance Run have fundraising?
Yes!  By encouraging your friends and family to participate in our event, you help increase the amount we can donate to the Women’s Cancer Fun in the name of the TCTC Remembrance Run.
We have also worked closely with Munson Healthcare to help enable you to donate to the Women’s Cancer Fund. A special link to the fund has been created and allows you to make a tax deductible donation. We will work hard to encourage all participants to fund raise above the entry fee. Just Imagine if every run participant donated $100 in addition to their registration fee, we could possibly help bring in an additional $35,000 to directly support local women in need.

How do I form a team?
Run Signup makes it super easy!  Just click and learn and you’re set to go!

How does my team help the Remembrance Run beneficiaries? To be considered an official team and eligible for a donation we will make on your team’s behalf, you will need 5 or more registered members at the close of online registration on October 5th, 2018. You can form a team or join a team online.

What are the benefits of a team?
Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Run day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved.
