ABOUT THE SERIES

Welcome Athletes!

Health First Health Plans and Running Zone welcome you to the 16th annual Running Zone Foundation Race Series. This year’s Series offers seven fun and family-friendly events including three 5Ks; one 3K and three 2-milers. We offer these shorter distances to promote participation among both walkers and runners of all ages and abilities.

 

Our Team Challenge lets any five friends, family members and/or co-workers enjoy the fun of competing together against other teams in the same category. Challenge your bosses and co-workers to tune up their fitness while flying your corporate colors. It is a great way to get to know one another both personally and professionally. Running Zone Foundation will even help your company develop a running or walking program for its employees!

 

The School Team Challenge provides fitness and increased self-esteem for those 14 and under. More than 1,500 individuals in elementary and middle school have participated this season and Running Zone can help your school develop a walking or running program for your students.

 

New This Year!!!

We made some necessary changes to the Running Zone Foundation Race Series for the upcoming 2020-2021 season. 

          We are very excited to announce that we have finisher medals for each of the seven race series’ events! We have a virtual option to each event!  Each registrant can participate on race day or with a virtual option giving participants flexibility and be able to participate according to their own comfort level. You can register for either the virtual or event for the series and then participants can switch between physical and virtual event until about 10 days before each event!  

      We will have caps on all 7 events that also will include the series registrants! So please register early!

     We have modified our race day plans to adhere to new safety recommendations and guidelines incorporating industry best practices.  We will communicate in the last-minute instructions these new safety protocols and guidelines to keep all registrants and participants up to date with plans. We always work with the local city and county governments to provide a safe environment for everyone.

 

    Each series event will have the option to donate to the designated beneficiary organization for the event to help our local beneficiaries during this difficult time.

 

     We will continue to have packet pick up starting four days before each event at Running Zone if participating in the physical event.  Please pick up your packet in advance! Anyone participating in the virtual event will be able to pick up their packet during normal packet pickup as well as the following week (ending one week from race day).

Series registrants receive a Santa Hat in their packets for Jingle Bell 2 Miler!

Your packet will contain the following:

·       Race number (Virtual registrants will print their own race number in RunSignUp)

·       Race shirt if selected as an option during registration

·       Finisher medal

·       Virtual Race Event bag will be emailed to everyone registered with information from our                         sponsors and future events

Registration & Pricing

     Both registration for attending the physical event and registering to participate virtually will be the same cost.  This facilitates easily switching between the two options and can be managed by you, the participant through your RunSignUp account. We will not be offering a team discount but continue to offer a $5 No Shirt option as in past years, but still encourage you to form a team and compete in the team competition. The series option is the best pricing available with a $25 discount!

Series - $185 (without shirt - $150)

Children 12 & Under - $105 (without shirt - $70)

 

Finisher Medals

All participants will receive their finisher medal in their race packet to reduce touch points at the actual event and to keep the finish line moving for the safety of participants and volunteers.

 

Virtual Participants that submit their results will be:

·      Eligible for random giveaways

·      Results posted on Virtual results listing on RunSignUp

·      Eligible to participate in completing all 7 Race Series events and receive an awesome

       Beach Towel after Run for the Gecko 5K in May 2021

·      Is not eligible for awards for each actual event

·      Will not receive points towards series awards
