Here's to the 4th Annual Brittany's Benches 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Wag event!  This is something we can all continue to gather together for to honor and celebrate Brittany Langley Lawson and her dog Chloe.  There will be kids activities and snacks/refreshments at the finish line.

This event is for anyone who is able to complete a 5K (3.1 mile) trail walk/run.  This area starts in Conestee Park on the paved loop and goes into the Nature Trail.  Halfway through, you will turn/loop back around the trail and return to the paved loop at the park for the finish.  The trail is a little narrow, so be cautious, if you will be taking your pet along or a stroller for the littles.

The trail will be maintained prior to the race, however, please be mindful this race is outside. Be careful and on the lookout for any branches or brush that may have fallen or become scattered about. There will be a couple bridges to cross over, so be mindful of any loose boards. There will be signs and volunteers to help guide you, and a water station set up at the turnaround point.  The race will be timed again, so work on those PRs!  The ultimate goal is to still have FUN and honor the amazing Brittany Langley Lawson for the beautiful soul that she was! Our prayer is that this annual event continues to grow each year and can become a more official race.

Event Details:

  • The 5K Race will begin at 10:00 am and incorporate the Conestee Park paved loop plus part of the Nature Trail
    • Packet pickup will start at 9am day of race
  • The 1 mile Fun Run/Wag will follow at 10:45 am.  It will follow the same route, only shorter.
  • Kids activities will be available from 10am-1pm
  • Access to the playground, Conestee shelter, activity lawns, and restroom facilities are available to everyone
Brittany's family continues their plans to create a special place in her honor where people can sit, gather together, and revel in the joy of life, as Brittany so often did. The Brittany Langley Lawson Memorial Fund has been established with the Community Foundation of Greenville to help bring this vision to life.  One of the benches will eventually be placed at Conestee Park. Donations may be made directly to the Community Foundation of Greenville's website here:
https://www.cfgreenville.org/giving/donate (Proceed to the drop down tab to select a fund-- Select "Brittany Langley Lawson Memorial Fund")
Current Brittany's Benches reside at The Children's Museum in Downtown Greenville, Runway Park (by the downtown airport, located at 21 Airport Rd Ext) and Augusta Circle Elementary playground.  If you visit either of these locations, please take a moment to visit these benches and smile as you reflect and remember our sweet girl.

Thank you all for helping this Celebration of Life event come to fruition. Brittany would want to go big or go home! So let's celebrate big for this beautiful soul!
