Description
A Hero’s 5K, Inc. was founded to raise awareness of the sacrifices made each day by the United States military personnel and to raise money to support the needs of South Carolina servicemen and women and their families. A Hero’s 5K walk/run is held annually in March at North Greenville University. It grew out of friendship between Cheryl Childers and Debby Whitsitt, and the compassion Cheryl Childers had for her hurting friend, whose son, SPC. Geoffrey Whitsitt, had been killed in action in Afghanistan on Jan. 13, 2010. Cheryl walked with Debby in her grieving, and one of the many ways she reached out was the concept and establishment of the A Hero’s 5K. It quickly grew into an organization of dedicated volunteer staff, and it provides a vehicle to a world-wide community allowing them to be part of that loving care – reaching out to help other hurting military veterans and their families.

A Hero’s 5K is a 501(c)3 organization.

What organization are the proceeds going to?
All proceeds of the 2021 A Hero’s 5K will be split between two organizations for use in their benevolent care for veterans.
Guiding Reins – A program benefiting veterans who are suffering from TBI/PTSD, assisting them to recovery through horse therapy.
Custom Canine Unlimited – A global canine provider and dog training facility owned and operated by Law Enforcement since 2003. They offer working dogs for sale along with extensive dog training programs that have been proven effective and reliable over the years. Their training programs are specifically developed for Law Enforcement, Military, Security, US Veterans, and those civilians that need protection dogs or working dogs. Additionally, they also provide work dog boarding and a full line of K-9 equipment.
This year, Custom Canine Unlimited is doing something very special for a local veteran in need. This special announcement will take place at our benefit concert on March 19, 2021.  You don’t want to miss it! Get your tickets here!
