COVID Guidance for Participation in the 2022 RunSedona Events 5K/10K/Half Marathon

The RunSedona Events (and situations/accommodations) fall into the USATF designated Low-Risk category and include the following:

Check-In EXPO and RACE events: Ample outdoor EXPO space and race logistics will allow all participants the ability to stay socially distanced (6ft / 2m) upon arrival to the event sites. Bag check is allowed if physical distancing can be maintained at bag drop off / pick up.

RACE Starting line:  Must be able to maintain social distancing (6ft / 2m) for all participants.  Examples of ways this can be accomplished:

  • Marks will be placed on the pavement indicating suggested spacing
  • Smaller groups, differentiated by distance, will be starting in waves HALF @ 8:00am/10K @ 8:10am/5K @ 8:20am

On the Course:  The out and back courses, allow for competitors to maintain an appropriate distance while passing.  In addition, it is suggested that participants verbally announce when they are within 10’ and preparing to pass, and the runner being overtaken steps to the side and allows for the passing runner to move ahead.

At the Finish Line:  Competitors will be forced into a chute; the finish line must be an open area where competitors can maintain an appropriate distance from others.  Finishers Medals, and post-race hydration will be spaced appropriately to main distancing recommendations between participants. Finisher Shirts will be available farther from the finish area, and masking, and distancing will be suggested as participants wait to receive their Finisher Shirt.

Participants are reminded to practice hygiene protection measures recommended by the World Health Organization. For up-to-date information on COVID-19 refer to www.who.int

These criteria and recommendations are based on known factors at this time (January 7, 2022).  As more information becomes available concerning COVID-19, the Guidance will be updated as appropriate and new version(s) released by USATF to sanctioned events.
