COVID MITIGATION PLAN

2021 Fast and the Furriest 5k benefiting Spay N Save

  • An organization staff member, Teresa Monteith, has volunteered to serve as the designated Covid Safety monitor, enforcer and sanitizer.
  • Social distancing - Pre-race day packet pick-up will be encouraged. 6’ spaces will be marked with chalk at the event-day packet pick-up table.
  • Sanitation - Event has very little contact opportunities. Port-o-let handles will be sanitized every 30 minutes or less. Pens will be sanitized between uses for waiver signing.
  • Detailed guidelines for participants as well as spectators are below.

COVID GUIDELINES FOR EVENT PARTICIPANTS
Current circumstances and City of Sanford event permit requirements necessitate a COVID-19 safety plan and event modifications. There are a few event format changes and safeguards in place for everyone’s comfort and safety. These may change as we get closer to event time, and will be specified on the event registration site.  In order to insure a successful race, we ask that you carefully read the following guidelines and familiarize yourself with this year’s changes. If these guidelines are not followed, our designated safety monitor (or a Spay N Save staff member or volunteer) will inform you of the guidelines. Continued disregard may warrant asking you to leave the event.

COVID EXPOSURE & SYMPTOMS
If you have tested positive or recently recovered from COVID 19, have been exposed to COVID, have been medically quarantined within 14-days leading up to the Race, feel feverish or have a current fever, we ask that you change your race status to Virtual participation.  For assistance, please contact us at info@spaynsave.org or 407-920-4894.

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be accessible throughout the venue.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

  • Physical distancing will be maximized in runner areas, including but not limited to packet pickup, portable restroom lines, race start, water stations, finish and post race activity.
  • This race will be a Wave Start event. (If needed for safety by event time.) It is chipped timed so your time doesn’t begin until you cross the start line.  Wave groups will be based on estimated pace per mile.

RACE TIME GUIDELINES:

1.     Face Masks will be required up to the time of start and immediately after crossing the finish line.

2.     Do not spit.  Cover your mouth if you have to cough or sneeze.

4.     Prefilled cups of water will be provided on the course.  Runners will need to retrieve cups from the water tables.  Volunteers will not be available to distribute cups.

5.     There will be a table with bottles of water at the finish.

6.     Hand sanitizers and masks will be available at the Sanitation Table located near the start/finish area.

  • Spectators who accompany a minor or runner must stay a safe distance from the event activity and are REQUIRED to wear a mask at all times.   Spectators are not permitted on the course and are asked to remain safely distanced in the designated viewing area.

RACE RESULTS
Awards will be presented post race at the designated award table.  Results will be available via QR CODE.   QR codes will be posted in multiple areas, a QR App will not be necessary.
