The classes of 2020 and 2021 are honored to host the inaugural University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine fundraising 5K. Join us at 8AM Saturday, September 2nd for hours of family fun, health care events, biking helmet distribution, and to meet and interact with the students pursuing their medical education in the Valley. The funds raised for this event will be used to help start our student run clinic and will directly benefit medical students and enable them to attend conferences, plan events, and conduct other student related activities.

An additional goal of our event is to raise food for the UTRGV Food Pantry. The food pantry exists to help students who are experiencing hunger and food insecurity. If able, we are kindly requesting participants and non-participants alike to consider donating non-perishable food items to help students in need.
The Hidalgo-Starr County Medical Society will also be donating helmets through their program "Hard Hats for Little Heads". Hard Hats for Little Heads is a statewide program that is completely free and since 1994 has donated over 260,000 bicycle helmets to Texas children. Race registration is not required.
