Kaylee & her Mother Kelly created Totally Teal because No One Fights Alone & Kaylee hopes to inspire other women of all ages giving them a little reminder that they too are Brave, Beautiful & Strong just like she is.  Our beautiful chemo care bags are filled with items Ovarcomers can safely use while OVARCOMING Ovarian Cancer.  Totally Teal is composed of the colors teal and gold as teal is the color of ovarian cancer and the gold represents childhood cancer.  Kaylee continues to represent both.

Based on her own expedience, Kaylee thought very carefully about each item and what should be included in her care bags.

  • A water bottle to stay hydrated
  • Blanket to keep you warm
  • Journal & pen to write your thoughts
  • A Mask to keep you protected.
  • Chapstick & lotion if you experience dry skin issues
  • Hand sanitizer & wipes to aid your immune system
  • A scarf to keep your head covered as you experience hair loss with treatment
  • Lemon drops & ginger candies to help with nausea you might have
  • Tissues to wipe tears away
  • Toothbrush, Toothpaste & Toiletry bag to help with the bad taste chemo drugs leave in your mouth
  • Wristband to remind you that you are Brave, Beautiful & Strong
  • A little note to tell you about Kaylee's Journey
  • Ovarcome Information pamplett

In 2019 & 2020 OvarEmbrace - Totally Teal Care Bags were delivered around the country, Canada, UK &  to Australia. Each year we hand deliver care bags to Sugar Land Houston Methodist, MD Anderson Cancer Center & UT Health.  What a joy it is to be able to give a little something to those OVARCOMING in hopes to let them know we were thinking of them.  Check out photos below.

With your help Kaylee can continue to grow the OvarEmbrace - Totally Teal Program and reach more Ovarcomers in hopes to give a little comfort and to remind them that they are Brave, Beautiful & Strong.  100% of the #kayleestrongtotallyteal benefits the Totally Teal program. Together we can Ovarcome.

Kaylee is a beautiful, smart, spunky and STRONG 11 year old girl who was diagnosed with stage IIIA2 Ovarian Cancer in 2019 at Age 9. She underwent surgery at Texas Children's Hospital to remove a 10cm Germ Cell Tumor.  Surgery was a success but the cancer had spread requiring her to complete 4 rounds of chemotherapy, each round consisting of 1 week in the hospital and 2 weeks home to recover.

Kaylee was not able to finish out the school year, but that did not get her down.   Kaylee's motto is "When life hits you, track the weather"!   She absolutely LOVES everything Weather and her role models are Meteorologists - Jim Cantore, Travis Herzog, Elita Loresca & Ginger Zee just to name a few.  She is a Figure Skate & a member of the Houston Elite Synchronized Skating Team. She loves playing with her friends, sewing, listening to music, making Power Point presentations, going on vacations and spending time with her Family, Cat & Dog.

Description

Kaylee Strong continues to Raise Awareness for Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer deaths among women, accounting for more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. A woman's risk of getting ovarian cancer during her lifetime is about 1 in 78.  It is one of the most challenging diseases known to medicine and often goes undetected until it has spread within the pelvis and abdomen.  Early detection is difficult because symptoms can be mild and vague and could apply to a variety of conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome or ovarian cysts.  4 in 5 Women will be misdiagnosed & 1 in 4 Women will wait over 6 months to get a correct diagnosis.  Advanced-stage ovarian cancer may cause few and nonspecific symptoms that are often mistaken for more common benign conditions.

The most typical ovarian cancer symptoms include:
• Increase in tummy size
• Bloating
•Abdominal/back/pelvic pain
•Needing to urinate more often or urgently
•Bowel changes
•Fatigue

Kaylee Strong Fun Run or Walk proceeds will Benefit Ovarcome, an Ovarian Cancer Foundation.  Their Mission is "to raise global awareness, to fund research in search of a cure, and to provide financial support to underserved women in the U.S. as well as developing nations in their valiant fight against ovarian cancer"  Our Goal is to bring awareness, educate others about the symptoms and help Ovarcome with their mission.
