Done this way we practice social distancing but still have fun being apart of the Totally Teal Trot to Celebrate Kaylee's 1 year Anniversary of being Cancer Free (NED) during the month of September (Ovarian Cancer & Childhood Cancer Awareness Month) Also - those out of town or even around the country will get to participate. Take LOTS of pictures or even a short video while doing so and make sure to post, we want to see the fun everyone had while completing the Kaylee Strong - Totally Teal Trot.
We may not physically be together but we can still get out and raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer while have tons of fun with family & friends.
All proceeds will again benefit Ovarcome (Ovarian Cancer Foundation) & Kaylee's Totally Teal Project. The 2019 1st ever Kaylee Strong Fun Run raised $21, 375 for Ovarcome and we hope to crush that total in 2020.
Kaylee & her Mother Kelly created Totally Teal because No One Fights Alone & Kaylee hopes to inspire other women of all ages giving them a little reminder that they too are Brave, Beautiful & Strong just like she is. Kaylee & Kelly hand sew beautiful care bags filled with items Cancer Patients can use while battling this nasty disease. Totally Teal is made up of Teal & Gold. Teal is the color of Ovarian Cancer & Gold is the color of Childhood Cancer. Kaylee represents both.
Kaylee thought very carefully about each item and what should be included in her care bags.
In 2019 we were able to give out Totally Teal Care Bags to Ovarian Cancer Patients at Sugar Land Houston Methodist & MD Anderson Cancer Center with Ovarcome's help. What a joy it was to be able to give a little something to these patients in hopes to let them know we were thinking of them and to put a smile on their face. Check out photos below.
We are currently expanding & making Pink bags for Breast Cancer patients and hopefully continue to create for patients with any type of cancer with your help.
Kaylee is a beautiful, smart, spunky and STRONG 10 year old girl who was diagnosed with stage IIIA2 Ovarian Cancer in 2019 at Age 9. She underwent surgery at Texas Children's Hospital to remove a 10cm Germ Cell Tumor. Surgery was a success but the cancer had spread requiring her to complete 4 rounds of chemotherapy, each round consisting of 1 week in the hospital and 2 weeks home to recover.
Kaylee was not able to finish out the school year, but that did not get her down. Kaylee's motto is "When life hits you, track the weather"! She absolutely LOVES everything Weather and her role models are Meteorologists - Travis Herzog, Elita Loresca, Ginger Zee & Jim Cantore, just to name a few. She is a Figure Skater & Girl Scout, she loves playing with her friends, spending time with the Family and her Cat & Dog. She enjoys RV'ing and spending time outdoors when the Weather is nice

Kaylee Strong continues to Raise Awareness for Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer deaths among women, accounting for more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. A woman's risk of getting ovarian cancer during her lifetime is about 1 in 78. It is one of the most challenging diseases known to medicine and often goes undetected until it has spread within the pelvis and abdomen. Early detection is difficult because symptoms can be mild and vague and could apply to a variety of conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome or ovarian cysts. 4 in 5 Women will be misdiagnosed & 1 in 4 Women will wait over 6 months to get a correct diagnosis. Advanced-stage ovarian cancer may cause few and nonspecific symptoms that are often mistaken for more common benign conditions.
The most typical ovarian cancer symptoms include:
• Increase in tummy size
•Needing to urinate more often or urgently
Kaylee Strong Fun Run or Walk proceeds will Benefit Ovarcome, an Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Their Mission is "to raise global awareness, to fund research in search of a cure, and to provide financial support to underserved women in the U.S. as well as developing nations in their valiant fight against ovarian cancer" Our Goal is to bring awareness, educate others about the symptoms and help Ovarcome with their mission.
