Race Day Info 13.1

Welcome to the Half Marathon at the Jim Thorpe Area Running Festival!
Race-Day Information Sheet (please read)

**YOUR GPS DEVICE WILL NOT BE ACCURATE ON THE TRAIL! The course snakes through the Lehigh Gorge. We have found that NO GPS device is accurate. It will make you think the course is long. It is not. We have measured it by hand (or foot, really) multiples times with certified measuring devices.

Directions: The race will start and finish in the Carbon County Municipal Parking Lot next to the Jim Thorpe Train Station. Enter “Jim Thorpe Municipal Parking” or “12 Lehigh Ave, Jim Thorpe” into your GPS device

Bib Pickup: You can pick up your bib on Friday May 21st from noon to 7pm in front of the Jim Thorpe Train Station. A friend can pick up your bib for you with a photo of your picture ID.

Parking:
Parking will cost $12 per car. Everyone who parks will be required to visit one of the many kiosks newly installed in the parking lot BEFORE YOU RUN. Parking is very limited in Jim Thorpe and we strongly encourage carpooling and arriving early.
THE LOT WILL OPEN AT 6:30 am for the half marathon. THE LOT WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL 6:30 am.

Rolling Start: To maximize social distancing, the starting line will open at 7am. Runners will be allowed to start anytime between 7am and 8:30am. The race is chip timed, so your time will not start until you cross the starting mat.

Hydration/Fuel: Our hydration stations will be CONTACTLESS. Small bottles of water will be left on tables for you to grab as you pass. Trash cans will be located some way down the trail. PLEASE DISPOSE OF YOUR WATER BOTTLES IN TRASH CANS. You can always carry the bottle to the next water stop. The use of large community coolers is still restricted, so Gatorade will NOT be on course for the half marathon.

DO NOT DISCARD ANYTHING ON THE TRAIL: Trash cans will be available roughly 75 yards past every water station. If you are spotted discarding anything on the trail, you will be disqualified, you will not receive a time, and you will not be allowed to register for any future RUNegades’ events. We apologize for the harsh language, but the natural beauty of the park (and our permits) are very important to us.

Portable Toilets: The Lehigh Gorge Trail is a remote trail through the beautiful wilderness. Restrooms will be limited. They will be located at the start/finish and at miles 2 and 11.

Spectating Spots: Spectators can safely watch runners pass through the Glen Onoko parking area at Lehigh Gorge State Park in Jim Thorpe (miles 2 and 11) and at the start/finish area.

Bag Drop: There is no bag drop for the half marathon. Parking is right next to the starting area. Those who do not drive will be allowed to place a small bag under the RUNegades’ table at their own risk.

Running Surface:
The trails are wide, smooth hard-packed earth and gravel. They are former railroad lines.

Public on Trail: The half marathon takes place on the public Lehigh Gorge trail. Please be respectful of any and all bikers, hikers, dog-walkers, etc.

REMOTE COURSE!
Cell phones will not work on the trail. We will have a volunteer on a bike monitoring the remote parts of the trail. If you are not feeling well or have an injury, stop at the nearest water station or take a break and wait for the bike monitor to come through.
