No more double confusing loops as in the past! This year we'll be holding our GCA TrailBlazer 5k on 3.1 miles of the Bright Hope Trail located at the Bright Hope Horse Center directly across the street from the main entrance to Pocahontas State Park. This is a beautiful, well-groomed mature trail, meandering throughout some of the most scenic views of the park. There is ample parking and bathroom facilities and picnic tables are available. So, come on out, get your Green on, and enjoy St. Patrick's Day with us, enjoy this beautiful park, we'll have vendors, face painting, a fire truck, Nutzy will be making a guest appearance, all the while helping to raise funds for much needed athletic equipment for Guardian Christian Academy. Extra Bonus - FREE Parking! That's right, there won't be any charge to park at Pocahontas State Park!
Walk it, jog it, run it, just get out and DO IT! This event will be FUN for all ages and abilities and features a beautiful wooded trail through Pocahontas State Park. This is a single loop trail, no more double loops as in the past.
Start with a FREE Kids Fun Run (for those runners 10 and under - need to register) at 8:30, with awards following. Fun Runners will be eligible for some drawings Then at 9:15 am the 5k (chip timed) will kick off followed by an awards ceremony and a raffle drawing using bib numbers, giving away several great door prizes! Finisher medals for all and a special award for the youngest and oldest finisher of the 5k. Free T-shirts for all 5k runners registered by Feb. 18th and goodie bags for all participants! Nutzy will be there along with a fire truck and we'll have free face painting! So be sure to register early and come out to have some fun!
(This is a cross country style course with a combination of terrains. Most of the course is fairly level but navigation may be difficult for wheeled devices and those who require assistive mobility devices. No strollers or pets, please.)
