Several considerations have moved the Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation to cancel the 2020 RUN High Bridge 5K.
With a confirmed coronavirus case at Longwood, the university has announced its closure for the next week. Part of our volunteer base for this event are students who belong to service organizations at Longwood. Also, we draw participants from a large geographical area and some registrations for this year are from areas with confirmed cases.
The Foundation works closely with our local school system and have made the school administration a part of this decision. We are in agreement that this decision is prudent and in the best interest of our participants and our community.
We are able to provide participants with three options for managing their registration for this year’s cancelled event.
Run and Walk virtually on your favorite 5k course and we will send you your race t-shirt. We realize this is not the same as enjoying the High Bridge Trail. But, you are still able to support the Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation. For those that choose this option, shirts will be mailed at the end of the month. Please reply back to this email to run virtually.
Those currently registered can defer their registration to next year’s event scheduled for Sat. March 13, 2021 at no additional cost. You can defer your registration by logging on to RunSignup > Manage Registration > Deferrals. Here is a guide on how to defer your registration. The deadline to defer is this Saturday, March 14th. If you have further questions concerning deferring to next year’s event please contact the High Bridge 5k.
Participants can request a refund of their entry fee by replying to this email. We will refund requested entry fees as soon as possible.
We thank you for your understanding and for supporting the Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation.
