4 Mile Trail Run

7:00PM EDT

Join us for the 3rd annual Richmond Road Runners Club's Poop Loop 4ish Miler. RRRC is partnering with the James River Park System to offer this Sunday night run.  This run/walk will be held in-person (but socially distanced) on roads, paths, and trails.

You have two options:

  • Trail - mostly run on paved paths and the mountain bike trails. Limited to 75 registrants.
  • Road - mostly run on the road and paved paths. Limited to 75 registrants.

The trails are beginner-friendly. Children age 6 and older and youth are welcome to run this event.

Why "The Poop Loop"? Technically, the mountain bike trail is Ancarrow's East, but its location next to the City of Richmond's sewage treatment plant affectionately earned it the name "The Poop Loop" early on and it stuck.

Trail Course

The 4.0ish mile course will begin at the entrance to Ancarrow's Landing and run on the road for a half mile at which point runners will cross over the long forgotten railroad tracks to meld with the Slave Trail Annex. Just before the overpass, runners will take a hard right onto the Slave Trail and head back east. At the large parking lot, you'll take a diagonal path to begin the trek to the Poop Loop. Taking a left turn onto a section of the Slave Trail Annex, runners will turn right and reach a large grove of trees. There will be a water stop here. At the entrance to the Poop Loop, runners will begin the loop clockwise. Once you exit, you will head back the way you came with the exception of heading straight to run along the river. The finish line will be in the smaller (original) lot. In case of rain or if the trail is too wet, runners will use the road course.

Note: This route is subject to change.

This is a trail race. You must be alert for gravel, roots, rocks, tree limbs, mud, ups, downs, turns and any other challenges of trail running.

Road/Paved Path Course

The 4.0ish mile course will begin at the entrance to Ancarrow's Landing and run on the road for a half mile before heading on the paved path inside the flood wall. Runners will cross under the Manchester Bridge and briefly run along Hull Street before heading onto the Floodwall. You'll continue to the climbs near the Manchester climbing wall before reversing course to the finish line at Ancarrow's Landing.

Note: This route is subject to change.
