I KICKED 2020'S ASPHALT!

It’s FINALLY time to ring in the New Year and to say we’re all ready is an understatement. It’s safe to assume 2020 didn’t turn out the way anyone planned, and we’re more than happy to show it the door. Let’s flip the script and make the final hours of this infamous year a little brighter and say So Long 2020! Channel all your frustrations into a virtual 5k, and celebrate the end of this dumpster fire with a funny event shirt that’s sure to become a favorite! Let’s tell 2020 to get lost with a final virtual 3.1 miles on December 31!

If you register after mid-day on December 18th your packet will be mailed the first week of 2021.

How it works:

• Register through December 31, 2020

• Shirts will start shipping around December 11, 2020. If you registered after mid-day on December 18th your packet will be mailed the first week of 2021.

• Run or walk 5k (3.1 miles) wherever you like (remember to follow social distancing guidelines!)

• You can choose to report your time or just let us know that you rocked it! Results submission open until January 2.

• Brag about your race! Snap a photo and send it to us, or tag @sportsbackers on social media. Use #solong2020 and together we'll make social distancing feel not quite as isolating!

Let’s Go, RVA! Sports Backers mission is to inspire active living in all corners of our community. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to producing quality sporting events & programs that motivate residents & visitors to be more active, supporting youth running & fitness programs, & advocating for safe bike & pedestrian infrastructure. 

Due to COVID-19, we had to stop all in-person events & cancel all in-person programming in the Spring. But, our staff is hard at work bringing virtual & social distancing options to our region including virtual & outside fitness classes, virtual kids physical activity videos & classes, workout challenges, virtual events, &, most recently, socially distanced in-person events.
