Sumerduck 7

You've done your Halloween race, and your Turkey Trot is still a few weeks away.  So... what will you do in early November?  Come on out on November 3 to support the Brave Men and Women of our Military!

You are invited to support the Fisher House Foundation as you compete in the Third Annual Sumerduck Seven (actually 7.5 miles), or enjoy a Two Mile Walk/Fun-run!  The race course is on gently rolling roads through beautiful rural Sumerduck, with one challenging hill in the last mile.  The fun-run is flat and easy.  The Church is a lovely setting for the start/finish.

Race Location:     Sumerduck Baptist Church, 5354 Sumerduck Rd, Sumerduck, VA 22742

Sleep Late:            The race is at 11:00AM.   No need to get up (too) early!
Cause:                     Support Fisher House, Helping Military Families.
Running Weather:  An early November mid-morning should offer ideal running weather... cool but not cold.
Same Course as 2017:  In the interest of safety, the course was changed to all left turns so runners are always facing traffic.  See map linked below.
Why 7.5 Miles?         Because that's what the roads offer.  It starts and finishes in the center of Sumerduck.  The course is one 7.5 mile loop with all left turns. No annoying 180s to break your rhythm!  The distance just happens to work out to almost exactly 7.5 miles. 
Course:                  These are the type of roads runners love to run on.  Peaceful back roads (mostly) with just enough elevation change to be interesting, a beautiful rural setting, and a challenging uphill final mile.  There will be a water station at about 4 miles in.
Low Entry Fee:      This is a runner friendly race!  Compare our race fee to most 5Ks and (especially) 10Ks.  
                                Adults race for $20.  (that's pre-registration; price will be $25 on race day)

Cash Prizes:           Yes, we give out actual money to the top 7 runners!  $50 first prize!  Running books and other cool stuff for gender and age-group winners.  AND YOU CAN WIN IN MULTIPLE CATEGORIES!

                                         Masters (Women 48+ and Men 60+): 3 places
                                         Female: 3 places
                                         Juniors (Girls 16- and Boys 13-): 3 places
NOTE: As the race grows, so also will the prize list.
Fisher House Foundation:  Support a great cause!  Fisher House provides assistance to military families when a soldier is injured.  All proceeds (we have very low expenses) go to the charity.  Donations accepted here and at the race.
