2026 Walker Grand Prix Rules

A walker must be a Tidewater Striders member in good standing at the time of the races and complete a minimum of 6 races. Races only count from date of membership forward. Any corrections should be emailed to the Grand Prix Chairman as soon as possible.

Races are scored based on finish. 10 points for 1st, 8 for second, 6 for third, and etc. All finishers not in the top 5 will score 1 point (Note: You will earn the SAME amount of points no matter what distance you walk during any of the Distance Series races).

Volunteering is required. To be eligible for awards in the Grand Prix, participants must volunteer at THREE Tidewater Striders supported events (e.g., Striders race, Adopt-a-Highway, etc. …). One of the in person volunteering must be at a Strider supported race.

End of year awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers. You must complete the Grand Prix event in the time allotted for the event in order to earn points. For example, if it is a 5k and the course limit is 1 hour you must complete that event in 1 hour. No race scoring will be applied to virtual races.

January 1 – Resolution 5k

January 10 – Distance Series 1 (5k and 10K)

January 31 – Distance Series 2 (5 miler only)

February 15 – Indoor Mile

February 28 – Distance Series 3 (10k only)

April 25 – Spring Running Festival 5 miler

May 16 – XC Classic

June 7 – OK5K (New this year – competitive walk category)

July 28 – Scholarship 5k

August 8 – Outdoor Mile

September 20 – ERR 10k

November 7 – Salute to Service 5k

November 26 – Turkey Trot 10k

December 6 – Dismal Swamp ½ marathon
