Tell City Half Marathon & 5K Fun Run

this volunteer will man a street corner directing runners to turn if there is a change in the course direction, or for traffic control to protect the safety of the runners. About 75 people are needed to help with directing the runners along the route.

Different street corners along the race route

The chase vehicle position is a two person job in which they will follow the last runner/walker in the half marathon so other volunteers along the route know when the last participant an passed and they are done. They will also pick up route markers, cones, signs, etc along the course.

Course vehicle is a one or two person job in which they will patrol the middle section of the course making sure participants and volunteers are doing ok. Assist runners that may encounter health issues.

Hand out race packets and race shirts to the participants on the Friday prior to the race and on race day.

Hand out participation medals to the runners as they cross the finish line.

In charge of laying out timer mat, inputting runners into timing program, etc.

Set up and tear down the start/finish line area. Install signs, start balloon, tables, water coolers, etc.

Start/Finish line

Set Up the course beginning at about 5:00 a.m. on race day. Pick up route information for a given section of the course to install corner arrows and discs, signs, cones, etc.

Take digital photo's of the racers at various spots along the course, water stops, start and finish lines, during setup, and as otherwise requested. Submit a thumbdrive or other storage device so the staff of Everbody's can download the photo's.
