5K Water Station High Priority

Details

Cheer on participants at the halfway mark along the Androscoggin River. Provide directions to walkers/runners, monitor course for safety issues, pour water into cups, offer water to runners/walkers, and pick up empty cups. All materials will be provided.

Volunteers under the age of 18 are not permitted to be on the course without the supervision of an adult. If you are registering a minor, please register them with an adult or for a task with no age limits.

Location

5K Route through Simard Payne Memorial Park, across the bridge into Auburn, along the Androscoggin River, and back to Simard Payne Memorial Park. Volunteer locations will be provided after sign-up.

5K Course Sweeper High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Greet walkers at the starting line at the entrance of Simard Payne Memorial Park. Stagger group departure to avoid congestion on the route. Answer questions about the route. Provide safety reminders before walkers depart.

Details

For Kids' Obstacle Course: Use registration information to match the race bib with the correct t-shirt size.

For 5K: Use registration information to provide race bib, correct t-shirt size, and other handouts.

For Harvest Walk: Use registration information to add soup recipe, route map and other handouts to participant tote bags.

Registration Table Accountant High Priority

Details

St. Mary's or Covenant Health Staff only - The table accountant will use an IPad to enter information for individuals registering on the morning of the event. The table accountant will collect the registration fee via cash, check, or credit card. The cost on the day of the event is $35 for the 5K. A cash box and card reader will be supplied. Venmo may be an option at the time of the event. Information will be provided in this volunteer’s packet before the event or can be obtained by contacting the task coordinator.

Individuals wanting to register for the Harvest Walk on the day of the event will be limited to availability of supplies. (Tote bag and soup ingredients)

Greet participants for all events. Answer questions and provide information about starting line locations, portable toilets, food, water, etc. Assist with handing out packets containing t-shirts and bibs.

Kids' Obstacle Course

Kids' Obstacle Course Guide High Priority

Details

Staff from Sasseville Chiropractic will do warm-up exercises with the participants. Participants will start one at a time with the smallest going first. The course guide will accompany one child at a time through the course to make sure they do each obstacle. The guide will check off each obstacle on a picture bingo card as the child completes it. When the child has completed all obstacles and crosses the finish line, the guide will give them the completed card and accompany them to receive their challenge coin. The guide will then go back to the start to guide another child. Each child will receive a race bib, The race timer will announce each child's name at the start and finish.

Kids' Obstacle Course Set up High Priority

Details

There are many materials that need set up for the obstacle course. Materials include cones, foam noodles, "stepping stones", limbo bars, etc. All the materials will be provided with a map for set up. A supervisor will be on hand to give instructions. Two inflatable obstacle courses will be a part of the course.
