Details

Serve the wine to the participants and volunteers. Each runner/volunteer gets 2 wine pours. Open wine bottles as needed. Large metal tubs will be availabe to chill the white whines.

Food Prep

Details

Prepare snacks for runners/volunteers, ensure water and other beverages are iced down. Please don't put out all the food at once and make sure some is reserved for the volunteers on the course and for the race tear down crew. Ensure only race participants and volunteers are being given snacks. Food will be 4 crackers, 2 sausages, 2 slices of cheese. Ask if they would like a Cliff bar and add it to their food boat. Please wear gloves while touching food and handing out food.

Water Stop #2

September 2, 2024

Details

Assist with water stop on the course, keep area clear of trash, cheer runners. This is a cupless race so you can assist runners in filling their containers or let them fill their own. Supplies will be pre-positioned at the water stop.


Have your cell phone with you. Notify race director when the last runner has passed the water stop.

Water Stop #1

Details

National Anthem Singer

Start/Finish Setup

Assist with setup of the start/finish line arch, table for water, container for icing towels, ice and water for water jugs and to ice down towels.

Race Site Setup

Assist with putting up table and tents, setup tables for packet pickup, setup the back drop, and ice down drinks for post race party. Review the site set up maps and descriptions. Requires some lifting of equipment and supplies.

Race Site Tear Down

Details

Assist team with tear down including start/finish line area, water stops, and venue site. Load all tables, canopies, and other race supplies into the SARR trailer. Requires lifting and carrying equipment and supplies.

Parking Marshal

September 2, 2024

Details

Direct runners to parking spots either across from the race venue or behind the retail parking. Vendors and others can drive in the second gate and unload, but instruct them not to park in that area. The early morning volunteers (race director, volunteer coordinator, site & course set up, and medical) can park in the unpaved lot through the first gate. Please request that runners and volunteers do not park on the road along Old Fredericksburg Road. Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with maps for parking at race site and off site. Safety vest and flashlights will be provided.

Wine Glass Distribution

Details

Setup wine glass table, pass out one wine glass per runner or volunteer, mark runner bib with a "G". Instruct runners that there is a water station near the wine distribution where they can rinse their glasses. Secure wine glasses at all times.

Bike Support

September 2, 2024

Details

Check in with the volunteer coordinator and then drive the race course to see if the signs are in place and course markings are clear. If there is a problem, text the race director at: 210-325-3415. After race start check on the runners along the course. Carry a phone and extra hydration just in case a runner needs it.
If there is an emergency call 911 if the runners need non-emergent assistance, call medical: 210-639-8238

Report to Race Director on how many runners are left on the course.

Finish Line Towel Distribution

Ensure towels are iced and ready for race finish. Add towels as needed. Contact volunteer coordinators if more ice or water are needed. Hand a towel to each finisher.
