Dear Registered Participant,
The St. Paddy’s Five Miler, scheduled for March 15, 2020, is canceled due to impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic and the potential of exposing people to the virus. Given the heightened concern of the effects of the coronavirus to our public health and safety, the restrictions placed on events greater than 250 person both state and local officials, and the recent closure of the Spokane Community College campus to major events, the only decision at this time is to cancel the race. We apologize to our runners for any inconvenience this decision has created.
In place of Sunday’s event, we will host a Virtual 5 Mile Race where all currently registered racers can complete a 5 mile run of their own on Sunday, post their times to the timing company, and be available to win age group awards, be entered to win on of two $250 award from the BRRC and complete the goal many of you had set out to achieve. This will take place on a course of your choice and you will report your time to Negative Split timing by the end of the day on Sunday to compete. We understand that a virtual race is not the same as the community event that the St Paddy's 5 Mile and cannot replicate the feeling of actually crossing the finish line in competition with many of your friends and family. However, we hope it is an opportunity to still get out on Sunday and enjoy our sport and our beautiful community.
BRRC is a non-profit focused on building the running community in Spokane and the Inland Northwest. Your entry fees go to the benefit of this cause and to our local high school communities who help support our races. Since the race has been canceled, you can take a charitable deduction for your $15 entry fee. Due to the fact the cancelation is out of the control of the BRRC or its partners, no refund will be made at this time.
All purchased merchandise, t-shirts and sweatshirts, can be picked up on March 14th from 10am-5pm at Fleet Feet Spokane, 1315 W Summit Parkway. You can request we mail your purchased merchandise to you by email or call Paul Fitzpatrick: email@example.com, (509) 475-6415.
