History of the event: Two years ago the event was established to raise money to construct a dog park in Whitney Park. The event was a success and construction was able to take place in early Fall of 2017 and the official ribbon cutting took place in November. With the success the event brought and the fun that was shared by dog owners and their pets the event now lives as a celebration of the park and funds that are raised go towards enhancing the park experience and park maintenance. Bark for the Park is also a fundraising opportunity for Lucky Dog 7 Rescue as well.
Come "Bark for the Park” on Saturday, September 14th at Whitney Park and participate in Doga (dog yoga - limited spots available), a 1-mile fun-run/walk event with your dog through the Whitney Park Neighborhood, or both! After the run/walk participants will have the opportunity to enjoy pet-friendly activities, visit vendor booths, enjoy an assortment of snacks and refreshments for both owners and dogs, grab a beer and of course enjoy THE PARK! It is not required to have a dog to participate in this event! All are welcome to support this great cause!
Proceeds will go towards maintaining, improving, and upgrading the park by adding amenities such as lighting, landscaping, more seating, picnic tables, and umbrellas for owners, and more dog equipment. This year Lucky 7 Dog Recuse will be the beneficiary of the event! There mission is to "educate individuals on proper animal care and adoption practices. Provide resources for animals and our community when in need. Inspire volunteers by providing a safe place to get involved in the community of Animal Welfare." When registering consider making an additional donation to their program and a portion of the proceeds will also go to supporting their mission!
Please note that participants must sign liability waivers during registration acknowledging responsibility for their dog's behavior. At packet-pick up, all participants running or walking with their dogs will be required to show proof that their dog is properly vaccinated in order to participate. All dogs for this event must be on leashes at all times.
