Race safety
We always strive to create safe events and considering the current situation we will be adding several layers to help ensure athlete safety.
· We will have more restrooms and sanitation stations available.
· 4-6 bikes per rack in transition...Most likely 4
· Smaller start waves or time trial start:
Our plan as of now is 2 men waves at 8:30 and 8:33 followed by females at 8:36. After that we plan to allow those that want a little more distance a TT start starting 3 minutes after the female
· · Refund or deferral for anyone that is not feeling well before race. Stay home if not feeling well, we will give you a refund if desired.
· Race guarantee. Should the race be canceled for Covid-19 reasons we will issue full refunds to everyone. We will not do a virtual race. There are too many of those!
· We may have limited post-race activities and awards.
· With limited volunteers we are asking athletes to be more self-sufficient. We will still have water and nutrition, but ask you to carry water and any possible nutrition you need if you can.
This is an example of last years race had we divided into 3 waves. This is the end of the first run entering transition. In this example the most in a one minute period of time would be 10 athletes which comes out to an average distance between athletes of over 60 feet. In comparison, most multiple loop IM and 70.3 courses average 20 feet of spacing on the run course for several hours.
We have 100-150 feet across for the start. The first quarter mile is roughly 50 feet wide and roughly 30 feet (larger than a standard 2 lane road) through the first mile.
We will keep you up to date of protocols to expect as the race nears.
