FAQ's

Where can we park for the event?
Parking is limited at Cameron Park Zoo, so participants are encouraged to carpool, if possible. Parking is available in the normal zoo parking lot and the overflow lot on the zoo property. Additional parking and shuttles, provided by Waco Tours, will be offered at the city parking lot at the corner of 4th and Tennessee and Indian Springs Middle School. Waco Tour vans will be on-site to shuttle participants from the additional parking to the zoo and back to the parking lots throughout the night.

 When can I get my race kit and t-shirt? 
In-Person Participants -
For participants who register by March 3rd
, we will be hosting a drive-through race kit pick-up on Sunday, March 26th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Unbound office (1923 Fort Ave. Waco, TX 76707) in the Annex building at Antioch Community Church.
All participants are able to pick up race kits at the registration tent starting at 5:30 p.m. at Cameron Park Zoo. Race kits are available while supplies last. 

Virtual Participants -  We will be sending race kits to participants who register by March 31 at the shipping address provided during your registration. The kits will be mailed out starting March 22nd. Race kits available while supplies last. 

 Can my friends register the day of? 
No. We will not have race day registration.

Can I bring my dog? 
We love your dog, but the zoo animals do not. No pets are allowed unless they are service animals. 

 Do I need to get my own glow sticks, or will they be provided? 
We'll provide some glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark accessories with your t-shirt in your race kit.

 How fast do I have to be to participate? 
You are welcome to go at your own pace. We'll have a "staggered start" based on projected speed to make sure participants running for speed get a fast start on those on the more relaxed side don't get trampled.

 What does my registration fee go toward? 
Thanks to our generous sponsors covering the cost of the event, your registration fee goes directly toward fighting human trafficking in our community. You can also donate!

 What is your refund policy? 
The Light Up The Dark 5K has a no-refund policy. All registration fees go to the fight against human trafficking in our community. 

 What is your event cancellation policy? 
In-Person Participants - If we feel it is unsafe to proceed with the event for any reason, inclement weather or other, the run directors reserve the right to cancel the run. The directors will send out a cancellation email, as well as posting on the website and social media. If the event is not canceled, each participant should make his/her own personal decision about whether he or she feels it is safe to participate.

Virtual Participants - Please participate in the virtual 5K at your discretion. If the weather is bad the day of the event, you can still participate earlier or later.

 Can I still get a packet and t-shirt if I don't participate? 
T-shirts are available to registered participants while supplies last. If you'd like a t-shirt, please register. For more information, email waco@unboundnow.org

  What if I lose something at the race? 
There is a lost and found table located in the pavilion. All items unclaimed will be returned to Unbound. If you have questions about items after the run, please contact us at waco@unboundnow.org. We will donate all items left unclaimed a week after the run to a local shelter.

 Where will 5K results be posted? 
Results for the 5K are published as you cross the finish line.  You can scan the results QR code posted around the site after you finish, or go to the website on the bottom of your race number to view results. You can also opt in to live results text or email messages as you register.


 Where does the 5K finish and start? 
The 5K begins and ends inside Cameron Park Zoo. The address for the event is: 1701 N 4th St, Waco, TX 76707

 Do you offer a bag drop or gear check? 
No. Please make sure you leave any belongings or valuables in your locked vehicle. Unbound Now and any other party associated with the Light Up The Dark 5K are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please make sure you check-in with plenty of time to return any items to your vehicle.

 What is your policy regarding minors running the 5K? 
People of all ages are invited to participate in the Light Up The Dark 5K! All minors must be accompanied by an adult and have a completed 5K entry. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome!
