Description

2021 Water Center at Penn 3 Mile Run/Walk

Let’s get moving and come together for the Water Center’s first virtual 3-Mile Run/Walk on Friday, August 27, 2021.

Help the Water Center at Penn celebrate its third anniversary by sharing your love of the outdoors and appreciation for the world's greatest resource - water! Water can mean something different to each and every one of us and yet water is critical and connects us all. Water is life!

Now more than ever, we are facing a global water crisis. Specifically in the US, water and wastewater utilities face a myriad of issues including water affordability, an aging workforce, and governance complexities. The Water Center at Penn is dedicated to solving these issues through collaborative, cross-disciplinary research that provides innovative solutions and helps attract the next generation of leaders to the water sector. Our research and programming are made possible through the generous support of donors.

Your registration dollars for this event will help provide funding for student grants, student and professional programs, and water research projects.

Description
In an effort to ensure comfort and safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Water Center at Penn’s 3-Mile Run/Walk will be a hybrid event with a virtual and in-person race, to ensure that all participants have the opportunity to be part of this inaugural event. The Water Center at Penn’s 3 Mile Run/Walk is a fundraiser that directly supports the Water Center.

VIRTUAL OPTION: Run or walk anywhere on August 27! Grab your friends, family, and colleagues and walk or run near your favorite water views  - it can be a lake, river, stream, or any other body of water in your community.

IN-PERSON OPTION: Walk or run with the Water Center team! Our live, in-person run/walk will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on August 27 at the Button in front of Van Pelt Library on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania (3420 Walnut St., Philadelphia PA 19104). From there, we’ll head to the South Street Bridge and mark the end of our route at the Art Museum. Note: We won't end up where we started, (unless you run or walk back to the starting point of course)!

Take a selfie or group photo and let us know you're joining us by tagging @WaterCenterPenn on social media and use the hashtag #WaterCenterTurns3.

*Swag is available for pick-up on Penn’s campus from 10 am - 4 pm on Tuesday 8/24 and Wednesday 8/25.
