Amazing Finisher Medals, Great Race Shirts, and DONUTS!
The Bob to Bob’s Half Marathon will begin at A.C. Bud Hogan Community Center that is just down the street from Mr. Bob’s Donut Shop of Old Fort, NC and travel to Downtown Marion, to the Mr. Bob’s Donut Shop of Marion and the Carolina Donut Festival. This is a point to point course.
The Carolina Donut Dash 5K will take participants throughout downtown Marion and also end at the Carolina Donut Festival.
All race participants from both the half marathon and 5k will receive race specific finisher medals, sweet race shirts, and an AMAZING Mr. Bob’s Donut at the finish line.
Packet Pick Up:
Both half marathon and 5K: Friday April 20th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Crooked Door Coffee Shop in Marion NC.
Half Marathon: Saturday April 21st from 5:30-6:30 AM at the Tailgate Market in Marion, NC.
5K: Saturday April 21st from 5:30-8:00 AM at the Tailgate Market in Marion, NC.
There will be race day registration if the races do not sell out in advance. Last year the 5K event sold out weeks in advance.
The Half Marathon is capped at 150 runners.
The 5K is capped at 200 runners.
Refunds and Transfers
There are no refunds if you are unable to attend, You may transfer between races if there is an open space. You will be charged the additional cost if you transfer from the 5K to the half but we will not refund if you transfer from the half to the 5k. You may transfer your spot to someone else if needed. If you are unable to make it to packet pick up, we will not hold or mail your packet.
Starting Line Shuttle Service:
Shuttle 1 Departs Marion Tailgate Market at 6:00 AM to head to Old Fort.
Shuttle 2: Departs Marion Tailgate Market at 6:45 AM to head to Old Fort.
For the Half Marathon we will be providing a Shuttle from Packet Pick Up in Marion to the starting line in Old Fort. When you finish the race in Marion, you will be within blocks of your car and the Carolina Donut Festival. The Shuttles will leave Marion prominently at 6:00 and 6:45 am.
If you DO NOT want to ride the shuttle bus from Marion to the starting line in Old Fort, YOU will be responsible for your own transportation before and after the race. There will not be a shuttle service after the race.
Bob to Bob’s Half Marathon:
Saturday April 21 at 7:30 AM (Starts at Mr. Bob’s Donuts in Old Fort)
Please take note: The distance for this course will .3 longer. We changed the portion of the race that was on Hwy 70 to make it safer for our runners. It should also be more scenic and flatter the first 5 miles.
Donut Dash 5K:
Saturday April 21st at 8:30 AM (Starts at the Marion Tailgate Market)
Half Marathon Time Limit:
There is a time limit of 4 hours or an 18 minute mile.. There will be a sweeper car at the end. If you are not able to complete the race or maintain a pace to stay in the time frame, the Sweeper Car will bring you back to the end of the course.
Aid Stations and Bathrooms:
There will be aid stations approximately at mile markers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and12 on the half marathon course. Water and/or Gatorade will be at each station. Donut Holes will be at mile 6 station. Stations 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 will have some type of snacks. There will be Port a Potties at Aid Stations 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. There will and EMS stationed at Mile 12.
There will be a water station at the halfway point for the 5k.
There will be bathrooms available near the Half Marathon starting line in Old Fort and near the Tailgate Market in Marion.
Overall and Age Group Awards for Half Marathon and 5K:
Saturday April 21 at 10:00 (Location TBA) If you leave before the award ceremony, you will be able to pick up your awards at Mr.Bob's of Marion.
Half Marathon Age Groups:
Age groups will be in 10 year increments:
(18-29) (30-39) (40-49) (50-59) (60-69) (70+)
5K Age Groups
Age groups will be in 10 year increments:
(3-9)(10-18) (19-29) (30-39) (40-49) (50-59) (60-69) (70+)
Participants Donut Table and FInisher Medals:
Both races will receive finisher medals and DONUTS at the finish line. Be sure you receive your free Mr. Bob’s Donut right after the finish line on West Court Street. You must present your bib tab to receive your free donut.
Carolina Donut Festival:
The festival hours will be 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The finish line for the festival will be right in the center of the festival. This will be a great after party as you finish the race. There will be art and craft vendors, music, Miss Donut Pageant, Donut Eating Contest, food, drinks, activities for the kids, and of course DONUTS from several shops in North Carolina.
All proceeds for both races and the festival will go to McDowell Endowment Fund. This provides back to school book bags and supplies for over 900 McDowell County students in need each school year as well as provides financial support for our local food pantries.
