Bring your family and friends for this fun 5k dash downtown Kansas City, KS. Stay post-race to enjoy Library in the Park and enjoy interactive activities, bands, dancing and food!
The 5K will begin at the JFK Community Center next to Big 11 Lake Park. The race goes north to Jersey Creek Park and then returns to the starting point. Water is provided at the race site and mid-way along the route. However, we also recommend that runners and walkers hydrate earlier that morning.
Packet pickup will be the morning of the event starting at 7:30 AM. The race will start at 8:30 AM, with some warm-up drills prior to the beginning of the race. Credit card payment will be accepted at the race for those who would like to register that morning.
After the 5K and the awards, everyone is invited to the Library in the Park festivities at Big 11 Lake Park, including live music and a Best Tacos Tasting with free tacos from multiple restaurants and vendors, and free ice cream.
This event is a 5K with both runners and walkers welcome. It is a timed event, with awards given to the top three finishers in the following categories – women’s adult, men’s adult, and youth timed. Youth under the age of 18 years old have the option of being timed or untimed. The untimed option is for students who have restrictions related to school athletic eligibility.

Ages 17 & under: Free
*register by August 28th to guarantee a shirt!
This is a community event, not a fundraiser per se. However, any excess proceeds from either sponsorship or registration fees will go to funding Little Library stations for child/youth reading/literacy to be placed in neighborhood parks in Wyandotte County.
