We will make every effort to conduct this race in accordance with CDC, state, and local guidelines. CDC Guidelines on how to protect yourself: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html. We will rely on each runner to conduct themselves with best practices during the global pandemic, including practical physical distancing, avoiding handshakes and high-fives, and wearing facemasks, etc.
Racers will not be expected to wear masks during the race, but need to wear masks prior to and after they complete their event.
Our volunteers will wear facemasks and those working food area and water stations will also wear gloves.
Additionally, volunteers will be wearing masks at registration, and any time we expect brief interactions closer than 6 feet apart.
Racers will line up the starting line 6 feet approximately apart in waves based on expected finish times.
The race will be chip timed and will start in small waves.
Please consider bringing your own water (BYOW) this year. Each Water station will have hand sanitizer. Water will be poured into cups by masked and gloved volunteers for the participants to pick up off the table.
Everyone has been through a lot this year with the pandemic. We believe it is time to get outdoors and be together… but we also believe that we must do it safely. We are expecting everyone to abide by best practices with us. We know that there are lots of differing views but if you are joining us for this race, please graciously respect the safety and views of everyone around you, and let’s have a great race.
If there are more updates, we will update you at registration and via email.
There are NO refunds of registration fees. Bib number transfers of registration must be completed by October 5th. **If you need to make changes to your registration or transfer to another participant [Click Here] for instructions on how to change your registration. This event will occur rain or shine, warm or cold. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds, rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to The Jimmie Hale Mission.

Strollers at the Race:
We allow strollers at the event. If you are participating with a stroller and/or children, we ask that you keep your children with you at all times. For the child's safety, we ask that during the 5K or Fun Run, the child stays in the stroller until crossing the finish line.

The Jimmie Hale Mission Ministries:
For three-quarters of a century, the Jimmie Hale Mission has been helping men afflicted by homelessness in downtown Birmingham through education remediation, job readiness, and spiritual support. To combat the current plague of substance abuse in our community, the Mission has shifted its focus from rescue to recovery. By addressing these deeper challenges we can help our clients once again become self-sufficient and productive citizens.
This dynamic approach to recovery and independence is offered for free to those in need. Our mission is to transform adults directly affected by homelessness, poverty-thinking, and/or addiction, into those who lead healthy, self-sufficient, and productive lives for the glory of God. Genuine transformation begins here.
