Battle on Buffett Beach

 

Race Date & Time:  Saturday, December 2, 2017 Elites at 8:45 AM, Open Waves start at (9:20am)

Race Start Address:  500 Beach Blvd, Pascagoula, MS 39567

Race Finish Address: Beach Park, 600 City Park St., Pascagoula, MS 39567 (This is also where you will check in and catch the shuttle to the race start).  Elite racers will start and end at Beach Park. 

Spectator viewing will be allowed along Beach Blvd. 

 

Event Description: 

Battle on Buffett Beach is a 5k obstacle race in the sand in Pascagoula, MS.  There will be at least 20 obstacles including a vertical wall, hurdles, over/under trench, balance over water, rope climb, tire run, culvert crawl, monkey bars, sand hill challenges, and much more. There will be a youth obstacle course for kids ages 6-13 years and the main race course is available for youths ages 14-17 and adults ages 18 and up.  There is an elite race division, individual division and team division registration available. 

Event includes a welcome reception meal voucher on Friday, December 1st (need to RSVP) and a t-shirt, participation medal and mesh back pack for all registered participants.  Active registration also includes a Cheeseburger in Paradise, a Landshark Lager and Chips on the day of the race. **We will order extra t-shirts but we are only guaranteeing you will get a shirt if you register by Nov. 1, 2017.

Race Organizers will send bi-weekly emails to race participants starting October 1st with more information regarding general information, hotels, training tips, shuttle service, what to wear and bring, and more. 

Elite registrants will ONLY participate during the first heat at 8:45 am.  Individuals and teams can register in any heat throughout the day.  Open waves of no more than 100 people will leave the start every 20 minutes starting at 9:20 am.

 

Registration Fees (Early & Late Fees & dates):

Kids competition for ages 6-13 years is July 1-Sept. 30th = $20, Oct. 1-31 = $25, Nov. 1-30 = $30.

All others are per person: July 1-Sept. 30th = $40, Oct. 1-31 = $50, Nov. 1-30 = $60.  December 1st at Packet Pick-Up. Currently there is no on-site registration the day of the race. 

Registration Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.  

Packet Pickup (Location, Date & Time):

Downtown Pascagoula, corner of Delmas Ave. and Magnolia St, Pascagoula, MS 39567 from 5-8 pm on Friday, Dec. 1st.  Scranton's Restaurant $6 discount vouchers will be offered for those who RSVP.

Packet Pick-up will also be available at Beach Park, 600 City Park St., on Saturday starting at 7:15am.  Racers should arrive at Beach Park on Saturday a minimum of one hour ahead of their heat to check-in and catch the shuttle to the race start which is located at 500 Beach Blvd.  The finish line will be on the beach near the Beach Pier. Shuttle service will be available from designated areas in Pascagoula to Beach Park and to the race start. Keep in mind that the Elite racers will start and finish at Beach Park.  

 

Age Groups:

Elite: Male and Female, ages 14-29, 30-49, and 50+.

Teams: All teams of 5 compete against other teams.  No age division.

Open Racers: Male and Female, kids ages 6-9 and 10-13 years. Male and Female, ages 14-17, 18-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.

 

Awards:  

There will be Male and Female 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for the following categories: Elite, ages 14-29, 30-49, and 50+.

There will be an Overall Male and Female for Individual Division (not including Elites).

There will also be a Male and Female 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for ages 14-17, 18-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.

Teams:  1st, 2nd and 3rd place Male, Female and Co-ed Teams.

Kids awards will be Boy and Girl: 1st, 2nd and 3rd, ages 6-9 and 10-13.

Rules of the Course:

Elite racers will be required to complete ALL of the obstacles to be considered for an award.  The only burpee's that will be allowed are at the burpee station near the end of the race.  There will be a shute marked by shark fins at the sand dunes and all racers must enter the obstacles between the shark fins. Any avoidance of obstacles will result in a DNF (did not finish).

Open racers will be required to make a valid attempt at all obstacles.  If an attempt is made but the obstacle is not successfully completed, a designated set of burpees will be allowed for a racer to be considered for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in their category.  There will be a shute marked by shark fins at the sand dunes and all racers must enter the obstacles between the shark fins. Any avoidance of obstacles will result in a DNF (did not finish), meaning the racer cannot be considered for an award.
