Water For People is a non-profit organization that works in Latin America, East Africa, and India to ensure that every person has access to reliable and safe water and sanitation services. With over 250 participants last year, this event provides a great opportunity to connect with athletic and community minded people both in and out of the water and wastewater industry. The American Tobacco Trail is a flat and shaded course, making this a perfect race for beginners and experienced runners alike. Runners, joggers, walkers, pets, and strollers are all welcome!
Children are especially invited to register for this race at a reduced rate of $25. Each child will also have the chance to win door prizes that will be presented after the awards ceremony.
In addition to race awards for first place finishers in each age group, each race participant will be entered into a drawing for various door prizes from our race sponsors. Past door prizes have included tickets to local sporting events, gift baskets from local breweries, and coffee beans from local roasters.
The largest team to participate in the race will be awarded one year of hanging rights of the Water For People 5K Trophy. Click on the Teams tab to create or join an existing group.
The purpose of Water For People is to Help People in developing countries Help Themselves. Water For People strongly believes that project beneficiaries, men and women, must be actively involved in all aspects of a project (planning, design, implementation, cost-sharing and operation/maintenance) to nurture local autonomy, initiative, management and ownership. Water For People has adopted the Country of Bolivia, and actively funds projects and participates in annual work trips benefiting those less fortunate in Bolivia.
